Hey Guys!

I'm from Canberra who is planning a trip down to Melbourne to poach an R32 GTS-T from you guys. There’s nothing worth buying up this way, so im looking to fly down to Melbourne with a few cars lined up to check out. One way ticket so I’d be looking to buy, with the money to boot.

My question is do you know of any good mechanics, preferably Skyline/Japanese specialists, who could look over the car(s) if they were taken to the workshop.

If you guys can help that would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Justin

Troy is great and tells it how it is.

But if he is unavailable; Contact "Vic", at EAS Performance, Tel: (03) 9330 2001. Same area as Troy (Airport West), only 2mins from the Airport.

Vic has been (and still is) my mechanic for the last 4-5yrs, he is the only mecheanic i have used and trust to modify and service my 33.

Thanks AL....But that being the case...if i am not available i will make myself available :D

Thanks guys! Sounds good to me, its great that they are so close to the airport - it should be easy to get things done in a short distance from the airport.

Anything i should look out for going on in melbourne? I'm after a R32 GTS-T - know of any that are dodgy and i should stay away from?

ylwgtr2 - you have a PM.

Thanks again guys,

Justin

shit, what a top bloke!

is broadmeadows too far for you to check a car?

and im guessing you can pretty much identify engine issues etc by checkin it out and driving it...

are you able to identify body damage, like bent chassis n shit like that...or just accident repairs etc?

are there any dodgy R32s in the airport west area?

The whole melbourne population of dodgy R32s come from this area or within 25 kms of this area.

Look carefully, ive been to see a few cos A mate of mine wants one, and ive been shocked at some of the cars that people are trying to sell up here.

My advice, u have better luck looking somewhere in the south eastern suburbs. At least they dont have 50 dollar hothouse green campbellfied special peeling paintjobs.

i live near the airport area, so does anyone know the address of this place where Troy works and contact number???

i have his contact number, he PM'd me with it...so just PM him and ask for it

I dont really want to give his number out if he doesnt want people to have it etc..otherwise i woulda given it to you

What the hell have you been smoking Kym?

All suburbs have dodgy cars and traders. When i was looking for a car (5yrs ago) most the dodgy cars i found where in the Eastern side.

You just have to know what to look for and be patient.

thats a bit of a generalisation....We are in the west area and put 100% effort into any repairs we take on....MR crusty our shop is 12A freight rd and the number is 93105333

cheers

Im not taking a poke at the western suburbs but In all due respect, I deal with and get to know the majority of Panel and mechanical workshops in the North/North Western area with my Job and I have seen some pretty shoddy jobs and countless amount of cars running around the area that show it. Sure there is excellent work and whoever you are or go and see does great stuff, but thats not to say all are.

Just giving the potential buyer a personal view because he asked for one. No need to jump up and down.

no one is jumping up and down...but i have been in the trade long enough to see what goes on ALL over the place and dodgy stuff cant really be pin pointed to a certain area....the only thing you can be sure of when generalising about areas is that dalesford is full of poofs and dykes :)

hahahahaha

thanks ylwgtr2....coz ive had my line only 2weeks and im looking for someone i cna bring my car to if any dramas/ mods

i work 2mins from ur workshop...if anything ill give u a buzz, coz im currently driving upto dandenong for everything, so its a real bitch

Do you also work in the Eatern/Southern areas. No........... So how can you say the western are dodgy if you only see/deal with one small part of the state.

As a matter of fact, I do go to some of the buisnesses in the south east, and for around 7 months earlier this year as a Trainee, I was travelling to over 1400 different customers throughout the week throughout Melbourne and Country Victoria. I was also living in the S/E and was working out of there for 3 months.

So how can you say "No"? I dont work for some overnight little parts shop.

Over the time I have got to meet many many Mechanics, panel beaters and so forth and theres clearly differences in Workmanship and pride of work with different people in different areas, sure its a generalisation saying a particular area is bad, however im talking majorities hence I brought this topic up.

    • They usually get made by hand as part of any such swap.
    • Was planning on getting an R35 MAF and the adapter, should this be okay? Also any idea where I could get my hands on an intake pipe?
    • I mean yes, if you're starting from scratch on an unknown engine yes you don't need to be doing all kinds of math in the background but if you're doing relatively minor changes like AFM + injectors + boost up with some aftermarket turbos it takes quite a bit of math if you want to do something like maintain OEM fuel + timing tables but compressed and then a bit more load scale up top. I think I've spent too much time working on big engineering nightmares though so I'm a big fan of trying to constrain the scope of whatever work I'm doing as much as possible and trying to get it right before moving on. For example, a local owner just did the usual E85 + single turbo conversion to his R32 GTR and nearly burned his car to the ground doing some spirited driving up the local mountains. Turbine is unshielded and too close to the hood insulation. It's tough to balance "just get the project done" and "seemingly small details can cause massive setbacks I'm not willing to deal with".
    • No idea about Neil's steering wheel, but I have the same behaviour in the Stagea. I doubt it has ever been messed with so might be normal. Indicating to turn right at a roundabout and correcting even a little bit to the left to go around will cancel the indicator. Never considered it an issue other than it being a bit odd.
    • Does anyone know if this is off centered? Looks like it, when I indicate to go right, but turn my steering wheel slightly left it cancels (was always like that even before I started messing around with it) was wondering if anyone else has the same issue?
