I took my car to get tuned yesterday, and the tuner can't get the Power FC to change the timing and ignision maps. He can edit the AFM bits to get it running safly, but when he changes the timing on the hand controller it dosn't change the proper timing.

Is there any way we can "unlock" the settings to work?

it sounds like its password locked out. if you go into the setting and ign timing and change a value, then turn off car and back on again and the cell you edited reverts back to the previous value (ie ignores your change) then the previous tune most likely has been locked by a password.

It's straight from Apexi though, it got delivered last week from nengun. I installed it and set up the Nismo AFM's, and that's all that's been done to it. If it does have a password, do you need the pc software to unlock it?

EDIT: i just went down and turned the car on, and edited one of the points. turned it off, and then back on, and the change was still there.

They come from Apexi with full access via the Commander. So I would say the tuner doesn't know what he is doing.

PS; There is no such thing as a "password", if you want to lock things you tick the boxes via the software (Apexi or FC Datalogit).

Datalogit Settings 1 screen follows;

;) cheers ;)

Can you make ignition timing changes on the fly? or do you have to do something to get it to apply. The tuner has only set Power FC's up on Silvia's, and he could make the changes on the fly then, but not on my car.

The earlier versions of the PFC need to have the changes committed.

My Power FC is V8.04A, commander is V5.01A. When i go to the "all data init" option and select yes, then turn the car on and off. It resets the ecu to the factory settings. Isn't that ment to save it, not reset it.

I set the first 4 cubes from the ignition timing map to 15 (from 20), and it says 15 on that screen, but it's never applied. And is whiped when I do the "all data init"

I just had another play, i can chage the injector map, and that works (the idle changes), and i can change the ing/inj correction values, and you can hear the idle change again. It's just the ignision map won't change.

ign/inj....is the ignition and injection map respectively.......i think you are confusing the correction screen with the ign map

the correction values will always revert to 0+- and 0+- when power is turned off

so your not ment to edit the 20x20 ignision map (first menu option)? cause that's the one that we can't get to work.

The correction screen for ign/inj (2nd option in 2nd row) that lets you set +/- X value, works (idle changes when you change value), and the 20x20 injection map (2nd menu option) works (different idle when when changed).

What i have been doing is looking at the map tracer, and seeing what section it's on. Then i go the ignition 20x20 map, and change that from 20 to 15. Then i go back to the map tracer and see that it's still on the same map. Then i go to monitor mode, only to see that the timing is still running 20.

My tuner is trying wants to edit the 20x20 map section. I have my car home at the moment, and i'm just playing to see if i can get it to change.

I hope i'm making sence.

does the value stay changed?? or does it revert to original value??if you cant change any of the values in the ign map....it appears to be locked....may have to go to a power fc excel dealer and get the function unlocked

the values in the 20x20 map always display the value that i put in. so when I open the map I see the 4 15's i put in round the idle area (from 20's), and they are there after i turn the car off and and it stays to my values. It just dosn't seem to use my values though.

On the GTR PFC, normal idle ign timing is set at 20deg. When TPS reads less than .5v (ie. throttle closed), the PFC reverts to the Idle map (non adjustable via the hand controller). You can change the values in the ign load map and it will have no effect on the idle map. You may notice during warm-up it adds a couple of degrees, and may also take a couple out if your actual idle speed is much higher than the set target idle speed.

Probably best you find yourself a good PFC tuner.. :P

cheers.

now that's what i wanted to hear. Cause my tuner was just playing with it at idle first before he went up the rev range.

I'm in Tassie so there a sfa tuners, and only 1 in Launceston had done them before, and mine is his first GTR PFC.

thanks heaps for that.
