Just wondering, are the bonnet's of stagea's specific to our vehicle, or can you use an R33 bonnet??

reason so, l love the black bonnet look of this car, and am half tempted to look into getting one (not necessarily CF). I know both of the cars has the r34 front too, which would make finding one easier.

any thoughts??

edit: just found this one.....looks to be a standard stagea item

If you are seriously intersted, and can organize at least 5 people, i could hook everyone up with something.

Either CF, CF/FRP or FRP...

Naturally, costs change based on what you want...

But yes, first organize some people and then ill talk to my friend...

Have a look here

http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...ult_type=topics

Basically, if enough people want things for stageas, i have no issues to lend him my Stagea to make moulds off.

Parts that we can consider making are

- bonnets/boots

- pumped gaurds

- airboxes for POD's (but i dont have a pod...so meh)

- if enough interest, doors etc etc

When i do my manual conversion, ill get a custom made centre console cover made, so ill try and see if we can produce that too..

Cheers,

Alex

  • 2 weeks later...

im wondering how they stop water goin in the engine bay with the vents like the r34 fronted staj in the first post?

id love the rear pointing vents to let hot air out but not if water can go straight in :P

i reckon under bonnet temps would be reduced a shit load with those vents (especially with a large high mount single :D )

any ideas?

or they track use only sorta things?

cheers

Brad

I am going to talk to Freddy on wednesday or some time mid week.

Do people generally want with or without vents? Whatever i would get i would want to paint it std colour anyway, but i think a vent is a good idea. I am not a fan of excessive vents i like the more subtle stuff.

StageZilla, in reply to your question, you will find the vent drains between the radiator and engine block, so it wont leak onto the coilpacks, and anyway when you are going forwards, water doesnt go down.

He also has like, add on vents

So if we make a base model bonnet, and then work from there.

If everyone can reply with what they want from a bonnet material wise, vent wise etc ill ask.

hey mate im more worried when its parked in carparks, and i was wanting a vent directly over the pod filter box to let hot air out also, but thats a potential drama with water :)

Well my custom duct into my airbox and how ive cut my bonnet right now, i dont have dramas with water.

My duct scoops a LOT of air directly into my airbox, and so far i havnt had any issues with my air filter. I still get edgy in the rain and prefer to drive NOT behind other cars throwing water up, but yeh, no issues.

I think the best option if we make the bonnets OEM spec and then people add vents as they want, dont forget we have to make a mould of the bonnet, so we all have to want the same thing, otherwise it cant/wont be done...

  • 1 month later...

thats the plan... needs to be a lil bit more follow thru and less lip service in these threads. if you are honestly keen and have the cash, put in your two cents. lets get something organised. ive just got my stagea, and got a decent enough price that ive got some disposable cash left, would love to make it stand out.

not wanting to rain on anyones parade - but more a word of advice for Stagezilla in case u wrent aware ... noticed you're from WA and that you've posted b4 that while your Stag is a beast under the bonnet you wanted to keep cop attention away from it... well if you go aftermarket bonnet DO NOT GET REARWARD OPENING VENTS... openings MUST face frontwards in WA (like wrexxy scoops or forward facing slim vents). Any rearward facing bonnet opening is illegal and talking to the pit guys one of the ones the cops take very seriously and one of the most obvious mods for them to spot just driving by to stand out like a sore thumb and give justification for a full inspection and over the pits. I have a pic in my gallery of the photocopied guidelines for bonnet vents in WA if you wanna look.

Other than that - Carbon Fibre bonnets also illegal BUT if painted then not exactly as "look I'm illegal Mr Policman" as having rearward facing vents - so if it were me I might take a chance on CF, but not on rearward opening vents in WA.

Cheers

Yeah i think that's the same around most of Aus, the rearward vents are illegal in case there is an engine malfunction at high speed and oil/water/liquid is released and splashes onto the windscreen blinding the driver.
