I know I had to put a new fuel pump on both of the ones we have, the stock one sits just next to the tank, ditch it off and get one from coventries or something, but new fuel pump is defenetly the way to go.. Also a common problem with them is they have trouble starting when it's really hot.. like 32c +

Its already got an aftermarket electric fuel pump fitted, i dunno if thats the problem...

It runs great when it starts, but has to try very hard to get up to speed as i drive from Warnbro to Freo each day in it (100kms a day) and its only a 4sp man, so its revving its box out going 80 :D

Yeh man it is cool, but i have a problem when I try and start it sometimes. If i put fresh petrol in it from nearly empty, it doesnt start. If i park it on a hill, it doesnt start. I figured out if i leave it for about 2 hours it will start up fine. Im guessing that theres water in the fuel tank and it gets sucked in when it gets swished around the tank. Also its bad on fuel at the moment.

Any ideas?

sounds like the float in the carby isn't shutting properly... this will cause extra fuel to leak into the engine when its running and has fuel pressure, or when the fuel level in the tank is higher than the carb (ie full tank or parked on a hill). You can check it by taking the air filter off and having a look down the carby when you in a situation where it normally won't start... if you can see fuel running out this is the problem. also the oil will be thin and smell very petroly.

normally this is caused by crap being sucked up from the fuel tank. normally you can just pull the carby apart and clean it and all will be good, or go crazy and buy a carby kit. make sure you install an inline fuel filter if it doesn't already have one.

I should be picking up my bunky this week, 3cyl Charade :D

Will be good to have a car that runs on almost zero fuel, takes parking dents and that I can generally not care about. Having a nice car as a daily driver adds alot of wear & tear, just not worth it IMO

Carry's are great :D think of all that space you can put gearboxes etc in the back :D kinda scary to drive though :)
