Are turbo timers and BOV's really that usefull or worthwhile?

I'm just wating on my first skyline (somewhere in the pacific) and I'm thinking what the first things I shoud do to it. My main priority is to make the car last and it too be a stable everyday driver.

The only mods that I'll probably do is just double the boost with that $22.00 boost controller that everybody on here raves about. It's already equipped with a straight through exhaust.

What BOV's should I stay away from If I don't wanna wake up the neighbours like a moron everytime I go down the street. I just don't want one that super loud...or maybe I won't have that problem if I'm only running double the standard boost (8psi?)

Thanx in advance for you help

Keep the stock BOV, if you want some sound get a pod filter.

I wouldnt run double the stock boost. Stock boost on an r32 (with an exhaust) is about 10psi and with an r33 its 7psi.

Running anymore than about 12psi without extra mods like an aftermarket filter and front mount intercooler is not smart.

Both have been covered extensively. Keep the stock BOV (unless its broken/faulty) and don't bother with the T/T (just drive sensibly for the last few minutes before switching off).

Spend the money on something that will actually improve the cars performance.

Turbo timers can be had for $30 if you buy second hand and older school.

Funnily enough I'm selling off all my gear so if you want it PM me

They aren't really necessary however you're better off just cooling down the entire car not just the engine by driving sensibly 5 mins before getting home.

Similarly BOV aren't necessary as your stock one will do. I keep switching between my stock BOV and a professor sheepdog BOV to try to determine which one actually makes my car better to drive. I'm leaning slightly towards the stocker. ... If you really do want the noise PM me I'll sell you my BOV :P

Moral of the story - keep your money stay with the stockers.

*end shameless plug*

if your priority is to make your car last and be reliable.  Keep it at STOCK boost.

turbo timers are definantly worthwhile,  but I wouldn't bother with a BOV unless you like rice mods.

Thanks for your help guys. I ain't no rice boy, I'm just about functionality. I care about to speed and handling...not looking good.
