Hi All

In my pursuit of faster lap times, i have decided to get rid of as much dead weight (except for me  ) in the car. Now, my boot already has barely any trim (thanks to previous owner :) ) i've pulled the remainder out, pulled the carpet out of the boot, along with the spare wheel. I have no use for the stock amplifier, and as i no longer have HICAS (have a lock bar) is there any reason that the HICAS ECU cannot be removed?

I have attached 2 pics below, and if someone could identify what is what in them, i would be much obliged (i am 99% sure that i know what they are, i just want to make sure before i take them out)

Also, what is the controller/ecu thats hidden in front of the jack holder, in the 2nd pic?

Thanks,

Jason

sorry to car-jack your thread jason. but i want to hear what you think of the lock bar. has there been any problems? heavy steering? warning light? PS pump probs? anything like that? also i would love it if you could give me some info on how you fitted it etc. I have searched but most of the info around is related to R33 GTSTs not 32 GTRs. otherwise i am thinking of going tomei lock kit.

Thanks mate.

The item near the jack is some form of electronic 'filter' for the power supply to the rear window demister. The only reason I can think of for needing this is that R32's have the radio aerial built into the front windscreen, so the 'filter' might be needed to reduce/prevent interference with the demister working (or mabe even when its not....). Really need an electronics type to comment tho.

As for the other photo, on the left is the amplifier for the rear speakers ('active' speaker system), on the right is the HICAS controller (I think).

Lang,

well i don't have ABS either, so that doesn't bother me too much :)

Beer Baron,

I thought the lock bar was really good, though it was a bit hard to ascertain how much effect it actually had on the car, as i had new springs, shocks, bushes, swaybars and completely new alignment settings done at the same time.

The rear end feels alot more 'direct' now and has lost alot of its vagueness that it used to have.

I didn't notice any heavier steering really.... Turning circle increased a little bit, and i'd previously pulled the bulb to the hicas light before installing all this, so i'm not sure if its still on or not, lol.

as far as i can tell, they just blocked the lines off just in front of the diff, but i'm not sure if they routed them back into each other so it flows in a circle or what (though i have a feeling that they didn't)

So far so good with the power steering pump, though its only been around 2 months since it was all done.

P.S. Its a GTS-t, not a GTR :)
