hey guys, i know this topic was bought up some time not too long ago but im too distraught to go find it.

newaiz heres what happened:

car was in for new engine @ ice performance and i got it back this morning, with the report that the car was done and complete after a water leak after the new engine was put it.

i drove from cheltenham to work at docklands without any hitch but on the way home white vapour was coming out from under the bonnet anc called ice, they said it prob just stuff burning off from the engine like WD-40. driving along some more the car started to stall and oil pressure drop to 0. finally it died without being able to start on princess hwy next to monash uni in caulfiled. investigation led to a coolant leak (?not shure but no coolant in the raidator or reserve so thats my comclusion). called ice and told me not to do nething with the car and to call a tow. did that and it cost me $75 from caulfield to keysborough my house.

what i wanna ask is shud i ask for a refund on the towing from ice or shud i b the person that i am and accept it and just be gratful that they're gonnah fix it for me (possibly me having to fork out more ontop of the 2.5K bill for the new engine)

whats everyone oppinions? :)

2.5k for a full engine build sounds cheap, so i am not convineced that this has taken place.

If it is in fact correct, i would definately be handing the Tow receipt to ICE and not paying an extra cent for the repair. Hope it wasn't coolant as if you ran it till it stopped then you probably overheated the motor and caused some damage.

All the best

its an RB20... 2nd hand engine + fitting judging by the price.

personally its $75, i wouldnt even be worried about it.

Its performance. There is no warranty

I forked out over $200 for a tow from torquay, and also another $70 from lalor, $60 from my house.

do you think i chased costs down? hell no.

My turbo blowing... who do you point a finger at for that one? Could have been 5 different places for all i know.

As with every situation there is 2 sides to every story.

And always more information that never comes to light.

Take it back to the shop it came from and talk to them about dealing with this.

I dont think we need another "who's to blame" thread on this forum (considering the amount we've had in recent weeks in all sections)

Should anyone wanna debate the above feel free to PM me

Thread re-opened. Personally I don't see any difference between this thread and this one by some guy . Except instead of a request of opinions on how to approach a situation with the police, its a request for opinions on how to approach a situation with a workshop. Ash if you want to debate it, feel free to PM me.

Just keep it clean, no name calling, no slandering etc, as per the forum rules.

To the thread starter, keep in mind that employees of ICE are valued SAU members, and keen helpers of the club, and I'm sure they'll do as much as they can to help you out being a co-member of SAU.

That aside, personally I'd just foot the bill for the tow and see what ICE can do to help with the car, as that should be your greater concern atm, not a $75 bill.

Ok, firstly i really thing for 2.5k is just an engine reconditon.

Secondly, if i see vapour coming out of my car i'll definately STOP and CHECK but you DID call ICE and they told you its only BURNING stuff like WD-40 and really anything that WENT wrong with your engine after that, is NOT your responsibility anymore. I really think its a blown headgasket.

For the TOW's bill, i don't think it matter that much anymore but your engine now mate, personally i think you should get an engine rebuild or re conditon for FREE. If nothing wrong with it just pay for the TOW.

This is a week old and all the issues have been dealt with already when the workshop in question was actually contacted about it all (1 day after the internet was given the first run)

There was a thread in the General Section that had about a dozen replies in it, maybe more.

One from Nigel himself about it all.

Its all been taken care of.

Shan wasn't this resolved here?

(sorry regular users you won't be able to see it..)

Where that guy from ICE came on and said not to worry about the bill?

//Edit: ^^^ Yeah, as Ash said..

I apologise for this statement, but it has to be said.

It is very Irresponsible to open up this thread (again) without knowing the full facts of the event. I suggest anyone who has a problem with ANY workshop should perhaps contact them FIRST to try to sort out the problem, not go to the nearest internet cafe and post a thread. Then if a probem cannot be resolved, post it by all means to see what other think, but leave names out of it. This thread was dead, and still should be.

If without knowing the full fact and without knowing it had been resolve then how would anyone know not to open this thread again?

Shane probly try to help a forum member out by open this again so that Nghiagero can hear opinions from fellow forum members.

gees u all get up and twist ur little panties dont u when a simple plead for assistance involves a supporter of the club.

i dont see anyone slandering a workshop... all i see is someone asking for simple advice.

get ya cocks out ya mouths.

get ya cocks out ya mouths.

nark, if i could get my cock in my mouth, i wouldnt have a need for a girlfriend now would i ?....and i would have a lot of back problems :)

my point seemed lost in the replies. That is, would you not call the workshop and ask them first? Plus I never said there was slandering, just a whole lot of mis-information

lol

thats just nasty.

but yes he could have... but on the other hand he might not have wanted to look like a cock asking for something he may have no right to ask.

i dont see an issue with it... some people are confrontational and dont mind but some people arent and tend to stay away from getting themselves in these sorts of situations.

they shouldnt be slammed for it or made to look like idiots... it puts people off using the forums

ok edit.

im lost......... yea i admit i was an idiot for mentioning the workshop name and i accept that i made that mistake, but my intentions were like inark said, to ask for OPPINIONS and SUGGESTIONS. in no way was i deliberatly bad mouthing the workshop and im sorry if i had offended anyone by doing so.

now as to why this thread was reopened remains a mystery to me....

anyways ill just give a quick update on what has happened. UN-BIASED.

car was towed from caulfield -> keysborough friday 16/09 $75

car was towed keysborugh -> ICE cheltenham 19/09. $71.50

gerald had a quick inspection under the bonnet and reports that it was the coolant line running into the turbo (aftermarket hks 2530). it was a shitty fuel line and had expanded due to the heat and probally leaked all the engine coolant, thats probally explains the water vapor coming from under the bonnet when driving. ice said its not really their fault bcoz that line was originally installed on the previous engine and turbo, but will change change it to heat resistant piping. thus far in terms of finance are concerned ive footed the bill for towing, no questions asked. but with the engine ice have yet to get back to me.

oppinions? and please stay on topic, no pottymouthing or else ill ask for this thread to be shut permanently

Hi guys,

The situation is, the engine was replaced with a second hand item. Unfortunately one of the custom water lines to the hks turbo obviously split while he was driving. We then organised a tow, and have since replaced the line.

The towing of the vehicle we deemed the responsibility of the owner as it wasnt our fault. We were not paid to change every line in the car.

However we were happy to fix it at no cost in a show of good faith.

Seems like a pretty simple resolution to a pretty simple problem.

cheers.

Nigel.
