Noisy Alternator

My alternator is making a whining noise - it's coming from the actual alternator itself, not through the speakers, I can hear it very loudly when I lift the bonnet and can also hear it from the cabin.

Any thoughts? Is it dying? Noise seems to increase with load on the alternator (a/c, etc)

Alternator bearing on its way out. They all fail sooner or later. Try a squirt of CRC into the alternator whilst its running. Can sometimes stop the noise and keep it going for a few months or so. At the end of the day you will need to replace the shaft bearing. Easy job.

Possibly a bearing, or a diiode has let go which is unbalancing your altenator.
