I saw Giant at the Vic Dutton and he was running AP CP555 under R34 GTR wheels. The rotors were at least 355mm in diam

Thanks, I'll send him a PM.

Andrew

Andrew,

Just for you this morning I went and tried to fit my R34 rims onto my car and it turns out that they DONT fit over my AP's with 375mm rotors - just (by about 2mm! Doh!)

But Id be confident they would fit over the "usual" 365mm rotors that Howard does down at Racebrakes.

That's great, thanks for that. Looks like the 365's it is then. I've just got back from Donnellan's after getting some RE55's fitted to some R34 Rims. I'm almost ready, just waiting in the racepace queue now :P

Andrew

I have R34 GTR wheels on my R32 GTR with the AP 6 pot and I believe 355mm rotor.... it is all AP gear, and fits easily...

I am in the market for some pads though!!!

Im looking at Pagid or basically the best I can get....

ideas??

also here are some pics....

so the 265 35 18 in the RE55 does fit on the R34 GTR rim? and does that also clear on the R32 GTR ?

I currently went the safe option and have the 245 40 18

cheers....

Hawk Blues are the only choice....

Order them direct from the U.S. and they are about 40% cheaper than buying them here.

Cheers Andrew. Do they 'stick out' off the rim at all, or are they pretty square?

Got a pic by any chance?

Thanks

9.5 inch would be ideal, but it's pretty good. My other rims have the same size tyres and they are straight up and down (Azeni ST115).

I think the RE55's are a bit wider than 265 in reality, mine measure about 270mm.

STI113,

ok I had a look at their site, but it is looking like I will need to order them locally....I dont think I can wait for them from the US...

also what else have you done to your 32 GTR brake wise to improove it?

currently this is my setup:-

AP 6 pot 355mm rotor unknown, but hat is AP so maybe AP

unknown pad

fluid is motul 5.1 RBF600

cusco brake stopper

braided lines all round

rears are just stock GTR with DBA rotors

what pads are you running front and rear?

have you done anything above and beyond this?

cheers....

How different are the friction coefficients of the more racier pads?

Id be inclined to go a normal a road pad as possible provided you can get an equiv friction coefficient. Surely with those size rotors, with the pad are of AP 6 pots you dont have to go to high a temperature pad?

I have read that the higher the temp coefficient the more severe the rotor wear. I would have thought it would be the friction coefficient more then the temp range that wore rotors, but i suppose it could be a high temp pad never getting up to temp on the street so is in turn harder on wear.

I want big brakes but when it comes to the foldign stuff i keep re-nigging, but one day:)

For sure Roy :D

yeah Im happy to have a pad that works well on the street, but Id prefer to spend the money and get a pad that will do the hard work, and maybe not be as good at low speed/temps ?

if I can get both? sure!....

There is a guy in WA looking into it, so if he has what I need at the right $$$$ I will be laughing :)

I'm not so convinced that they will wear the rotor that significantly if you're running low temps on the street. I think the cF should be OK on the rotors until you get high heat in the pads / rotors where they will start to eat the rotors...

Of course I'm usually wrong

I think 265 will be WAY to wide to get on a 8" wide rim... :D

You'll be able to find (sorry don't have time right now) on the web tyre widths and rim ranges that suit them.

cheers ben

what about Pagid pads? and what is it about the Hawk blue that make them a step above the rest?

I have used pagid blues on my old Sti and found them to be much harder on rotors and quite a bit more expensive.

When hawks are up to temp they are quite reasonable on rotor wear and they will not fade.
