hi, I need urgent help. I am fitting my front coilovers and sway bar - how the heck do you fit the sway bar. I have undone the little moving eye socket thing near the brakes, and have undone the rear nut on the bracket holding the bar to the chassis - but the front nut is obscured by part of the suspension assembly - do you have to remove this part to get to the nut? It looks like a bugger to get off - and even worse to get back on! Please respond asap.

Got my kit installed on Friday. Excellent products! Top service from Sydneykid!

Just want to confirm something with other GTT owners. After install Bilsterin shocks on the lowest setting (3 circlips down or all the way down) with factory springs on all four corners, the front end of the car looks lower than the rear. Measuring by eye there are narrower gaps between the front wheels and guards than rears. Is this normal? I though factory GTT is lower at the rear?

Cheers

^ I thought a lot of cars, the rear guards just have bigger gaps than the front? so you could lower your car evenly all around, but the back still "looks" higher", but it's just the guard is cut a bit higher? Dunno, that's just what i thought...

before i PM SK, just wondering for those that have received goods, roughly how long did it take after you paid?

cheers,

daniel

Hey Daniel,

My Bilstein shocks arrived within 5 working days of placing the order. Sway bars took a little longer coz whiteline had to make them fresh, received 2 weeks later. Best thing about this group buy is SK always keeps you updated and very prompt with pm replies.

Cheers

i think SK is a little swamped with something at the moment. It's been 2 weeks since i've paid, so i'll give it a little longer and then PM to find out the g-o... don't want to hassle :P

so how you finding the car??? Have you got the FULL kit? the rear spoiler giving you have extra down force yet?? :/

He was active the the last few days. I sent him a pm and it went through so it wont be long till he contacts you.

I didnt get the full kit just Bilsteins in stock springs and a couple of sway bars. Simple mods but transformed the handling enormously. Car feel more planted to the road, minimal body roll on corners and the ride is as comfy as factory. so far so good. Will find out more when I take it to the track.

As for the rear spoiler Im just wait for my side skirts to arrive so I can get everything painted and fitted. And hopefully the GTR wing would give me extra down force above 180km/h.lol

Which components did you order?

just adj. sway bars at the moment. Didn't realise that getting the bilsteins with stock springs was an option?? i would thought you get them with the whiteline springs, or not get them at all.... interesting.

having this FULL kit is very high priority on my modifying list, but don't really have the cash to do all in one hit. But am keen doing it little by little, looks like the bilsteins may be next :) Becuase i know i can't do the "i want lower springs" without shocks

so SK recommended this option, sway bars and shocks? or was it something you specifically wanted to go for?

Me thinks SK would suggest the whole kit. Thats what he designed it for. Every setting should be as he described. But if you cant afford it....

Go the swaybars first, then shocks, then springs, then bushes/adjusters.

If you could afford the whole kit it would obviously be the best option.

The reason I got bilstein shocks only is because I dont want to lower the car too much but I do want improved handling as well as factory like ride comfort. These bilsteins have built-in adjustable circlips which in the lowest setting they could lower the car by 24mm in combination with factory springs. and thats plenty lowering for what I need. another benefit with this combination is that its not necessary to have camber adjustments after lowering.

but dont let me stop you from getting the full kit as what I chose was only intended for the main purpose of my car, daily driving. and Im sure these bilsteins would work best with Sk's springs in terms of optimum handling. road or track.

yeah that's news to me. And i didn't know the bilstein and stock springs was a good combo either :domokun:

so 4 x Bilsteins are around $950-$1000 yeah?

so ..... can anyone tell me how to fit the damn front swaybar? And what are the best settings to use (I bought an adjustable one) - I take it neutral is the centre one - but what holes do I use to change what properties?

^ it's in the thread somewhere. Like soft settings front, stiff settings rear = tail happy. that's a very bad explanation, but it's the thread somewhere what settings = what driving characteristics. Some that help turn-in etc...

just use the search function for this thread with "swaybar" or something

nah Gohan I have just read the whole thread and whilst there is a little talk about sway bars, there is no explanation as to which mounting holes perform which function. Anyone know the data I need? Yes, I am a suspension Noob :action-smiley-069:

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?
    • Your car was auto before? You have different diff ratio (auto vs manual i think? or n/a and turbo?)
    • +1 for getting a screen off alibaba, CarPlay/Android Auto is vastly better than whatever navigation cars had 10 years ago. I got an Android screen for my 2015 BMW, huge difference. Fully compatible with factory stuff including iDrive controls.
