I was quoted $450-600 over the phone a few weeks before I went to Heasmans.

it was complicated ... heasmans were the ones putting in the extra grooves into the shocks so I took the car there because they had my shock, before the shocks got lost again. I waited for more than 2 months and was sort of in no situation to pick a place.

yeah i got ripped badly .. I think they quoted me $700-800 for supply and install of new springs too. ugh..

im very interested in getting the springs and a full set of shocks, because my car when i bought it came with looks like some blue springs that have lowered the rear 350mm but the front is 330mm, and hitting some bumps sounds like my whole car will fall apart. just wondering if they are available or not at the moment, as you stated before that you have short supply.

thanks.

scott.

  • 2 weeks later...

OK I have everything now other than the shocks :-(

which is at least something but still, cant install till I get the whole thing.

H,i last time i called Superior Suspension a lady picked up and told me they only make sway bars now and are packing up there shop or warehouse. has anyone recived anything as of yet. i was told my stuff should all come a week before i left australia. its been a month now and im back in australia with nothing at my door. Can matt or gary please pm me asap

I have dealt with his guy (matt) through ebay.

Bought a total of: 2 sets of r32 bars, 3 sets of VY commodore bars, full set of commodore bushes plus double of the rear control arm inner bushes, as well as rear subframe and link pin bushes.

We are talking a total of $2050, and i am STILL waiting on the 2 sets of subframe bushes and 1 set of rear link pin bushes. I ordered and payed for all this late september.

I have a full set of HSV brakes to install on my VY, plus a rear cradle to install, and full front bushes, with my current brakes riding pretty low, and alot of my bushes well and truly f**ked.

I will try calling again, but last message i got from Matt was that he was in America for a month, and should be back ANY DAY NOW..... (he left mid october..)

I have also added an extra $1k of sales through referals, and yet am getting pretty sick and tired of things...

Ask to speak to Gary or Matt directly stating that you are chasing an existing order. They will be there.

I will try today, this being my final resolve at getting my suspension, i have already taken regretful steps to ensure i get my order and don’t lose everything, but this is seriously slack on behalf of gary and/or matt. updates should have been posted and all orders sent out before some lady on the phone tells you that the business is being taken over and you should leave a message on the answering machine never to receive a call back. I ask that as this group buy has been allowed to go on like this for months by the moderators and admins of this forum that SAU step in and take some kind of action to ensure peoples money does not just disappear as they are not small amounts that you could forget about.

yes I called today about the shocks and got the same treatment. Its like they are not working anymore which is very worrying. Again I was promised the shocks in "a few days" after I got the springs and swaybars (which I asked to be sent separately). It has been over a week now. I just want the shocks in any condition.

Ok, finally got onto Gary, Matt is back in melbourne, got back last friday.

he said there are 8 SAU group buy stuff waiting to be sent out, and that he will get Matt to contact me on monday in regards to my bushes.

This is becoming a joke really, but atleast i got onto him (through the number on page 15).

Ill keep u guys updated, maybe keep calling to pressure them into getting the stuff

Ok, i have been calling matt and gary once a day, and finally got onto matt today. Been talking to gary since friday, and today was d-day i called 3 times, lol

Anyway, looks like they are finalising the sau group stuff and my stuff should come soon. maybe give them a call to question them and put the pressure on.

I think they work on cars as well, so it makes it difficult for them to organise all of this as well as do suspension isntalls on cars.

Cheers

Nick

    • ...just a note of warning, you shouldn't drive it about with the TCU in limp mode with only 3rd gear available ~ apart from the fact you end up sheering the ATF at the torque converter interface, the high clutch in these isn't especially the strongest, particularly bolted to the RB25DE mill...which is likely a 4AX01 box with lighter duty high clutch (the RB25DET got the bigger high clutch)...be careful out there...
    • Hoping to do similar mods to my RB20 once I get it running and reliable again
    • As you're looking at using a Link ECU, then large injectors are not a problem. But there's not really any need to go 1000s on an RB20 unless you're planning >>600HP on E85, which would seem unlikely. There are other options for injectors. The Xspurt ones are available from a number of places and you can get them in the mid 600s and 725cc, which is probably a sensible place to be. These are all EV14 based. If you are not using the stock AFM (at all, which would be the case with a Link) then a large turbo intake pipe to suit the ATR turbos is not an obstacle, so you should use one instead of a highflow. Results will be better.
    • Hey guys,  I'm after some advice and this here is the best place to get it imo. I was a member a looong time ago under another account, with a lost email address. Its nice to jump back on and see some of the same names still giving good advice.  I mothballed my car when i moved to perth in 2013, and after getting towed across the nullabor a few times it has officially done more km's on a trailer than under its own power. Now that i have started the process of tidying up and modifying it, i see the fruit available (and the fruiterers selling the produce) is different than back in the day. hence my questions, as i used to 'know' what to get and now, i'm not so sure. Engine wise the car (92 gtst) has a walbro 255, k+n, fmic, cam gears and and turbo back 3"exhaust. Wish list is a Hypergear high flow or ATR43G1, Link G4x and some newer injectors before a tune up. My goals are modest, only low 200's power wise. i know i could achieve this with less, but i've been swapping out old for new where i can. Every cooling hose has been replaced, along with mani gaskets, WP, thermostat and radiator, fuel pump and timing belt, tensioner and idler, and i rebuilt the steering rack. Regarding the injectors, the fruiterers all seem to sell what used to be considered quite large injectors. There are a lot of options for bosch 1000cc EV14's, and i would like to know if that is a suitable choice for my build. Is modern injector design good enough to run these at the low duty cycles that i likely would be? is there a downside to running a too large injector these days? or, would there be an upside to running a smaller injector at higher duty cycle? I can see that there are smaller injectors still available, but the ones i have seen specifically marketed for RB's are pretty large (see: https://golebysparts.au/collections/fuel-rail-injector-kits/products/nissan-rb20-fuel-rail-bosch-980cc-1150cc-injectors-turbosmart-fpr800-regulator-kit), and i dont know enough about them to say one not marketed for RB's would fit or not. I have searched the forums, and amongst all the posts on older tech, I did see gtsboy recommend EV14's, but no size was mentioned... again, i'm not clear on if the smaller size bosch injectors are also EV14's as they do look similar.  also, if someone can recommend a tuner familiar with RB's in the Geelong or West Melbourne area i'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance guys. Cheers, Rowdy
    • FWIW the depth of the groove in the rubber pad is not super essential, the blocks are rubber and squish a bit. If you are worried an angle grinder will make a deeper groove quick smart
