Hi Skyliners,

I've gotta few problems with my front suspension. Would like to share with you for some tips, advise and ideas:

1) Its making a squarky noise. The mechanic said it has worn out and advised me to change it. He said its not urgent and does not need replacing if I'm not driving my sky hard. Would like to know what brand and price range am I lookin at to replace the 4 shocks system.

2) My brake pads is very low. Would like some recommendation on brake pads.

3) There is another thing. I think is something rod bush is blown. LOL. Can't really remember the name.

Last Sat was my first service after buying the skyline and it was shocking. :)

Thanks

caster rod bush? it may cracked... get a replacement kit from whiteline.

for brakes, call RaceBrakes in north melbourne, they will recommend something suitable for you.

replacing your shocks, the price will vary depending what your expectations are on performance and features. I'd say go for coilovers (damper adjustable, height adjustable, pillow ball, etc.). But you could also select high end shocks and springs seperately to suit your requirements.

Ohlins == very good sh1t.

GAB shocks, kg/mm springs == good sh1t.

Nismo, HKS, TEIN == ok as far as coilovers go.

Hope this helps. Cheers B)

Bilsteins or Koni will set you back approx $250 per corner. (Springs are additional, about $100 per corner, I think)

Bendix Ultimates are pretty good bang-for-your-buck.

Yeah, probably the castor rod bushes. Get the urethane replacements.

Yes it is caster rod bushes.

Is it an important part of the car? I mean does it needs replacement urgently? Coz I know the shocks doesn't need replacement urgently.

Where can I get caster rod bushes? What brand and price range am I lookin at? Any recommendation? What is caster rod bush anyway? :)

Lol...sorry for the lame question. :D

caster rod bushes should be replaced sooner rather than later... you can buy urethane replacement bushes from whiteline for about $130.

Thanks for tips mate. Do I need to replace both the bushes or just one? Currently the cracked one is on the driver side.

I'm also thinking of getting a suspension. I heard that Koni and Tein are the good ones. Are they costly? Any other recommendation?

Thanks

Hey Adrian!

I'll bring Golgo in on Wednesday and show you where the castor bushes are at lunchtime.

Your SAU membership gets you 10% discount at Racebrakes in Flemmington

Howard can fix you up :D

Actually - I think I have some Bendix pads somewhere in the garage - will bring them in tomorrow and check if they are the right size. They won't fit the Brembos - so pretty sure they are for a GTSt.

If you need a wheel alignment or any suspension work done, I suggest going to Centreline Suspension in Thomastown, they're awesome...

Haven't had any problems with the work they've done and been given excellent prices.. They're one of the only 3 places in Victoria I'd trust leaving our cars.. :)
