What Gearbox Do I Have?

I'm trying to figure out what gearbox I have, it has a RB25 and I'm not 100% sure if it is S1 or S2 either. How can I tell ???

I also have found that I am changing gears very quickly, would a RB20 on a RB25 be the cause of this, or could it be my diff (ca18?)

it would be the diff as c18 is a 4.375 ratio I think same as a r32 do a search and find out what standard ratio diff is in a r33 and find one to match it. A sr diff has a lower ratio 4.1 (?) or less not real sure and would probably be the easiest swap

Any idea how to check if it is the RB25 box or not???

yeh i have rb20 and rb20 box with a auto CA18 diff, its tight as....well its ridiculous to be honest

you can tell by size

one person can move a 20 box, 2 people needed to move a 25 box (on average)

But are there some ID's on the box that I can look for? Or something that stands out that is different to the RB20 box?

Because I don't really want to have to take the box out

First one is MX7 (L) and RB20 ®

Second one is RB25 box.

The MX7 box is the one found in VL turbos, it's very similar in size and strength to the RB25 box.

If you see a code "RP71" on the box it's an RB20.
