Ok, finally i get a little bit of time off work.. so im heading down to Sydney again to check out more cars. Ive been to parra rd before a few times looking, but i was wondering if anyone knows sum really good places in the area down there that i should go to- for a skyline of course. The last time i fell in love with one... it wasnt even road worthy- and the guy obviously saw me coming... and thought it would be and easy sale for him cos im a girl, i dunno.

If anyone has some places in mind... that would be fantastic

Even pm me if you like.

cheers,

- manda.

Japlink motors? Umm that place along parra road.. err cant remember, there are a few up there.... But I think most of them are quite expensive..

Have a look in the FS threads on SAU, carsales.com.au etc..

Make sure you take a friend to go see the car, one who knows about the car.

Japlink are the only people I would trust on Parra road. You can pretty much guarentee that all skylines in Homebush, AutoAlley etc etc have been wound back.

Honestly..just get a broker like powerplay and be rest assured in the quality assurance program that they have to bring you in a decent car...or just NRMA inspect every car that gives you a hard on

Or speak to Autostyle prestige and performance cars. The cars that go through there are generally only to the highest standards. I have never seen a car advertised or sold as something it wasnt.

For a look at some of their stock try www.autostyle.com.au or PM me for the owners mobile number.

my advice is to look at carpoint.com.au and looks at cars privately. yes it takes longer and can be more of a hassle, but you will have access to a higher standard of car in general and get a better price. also of course look in the for sale section on this forum.

Yea.. thats what I did and I managed to get my car about 6months ago, abit pricey (as friends have said). But it was top notich, stock and just game into Australia. After the 1st 2 months I havent had any problems (touch wood) with it.

It always pays to look around. Also are you prepared to pay the ORC's and the endless upgrades and petrol money that you will want to pay for? hehe

From personal experience I can confirm what others have stated: don't waste your time with the dealers on Parramatta Rd. The general quality of cars they have is poor. They basically don't give a shit until you sign on the dotted line: I even had one dealer say he wouldn't allow me or my father (a very respectable 50-something Professor) test drive a car until we agreed to purchase it.

Japlink is definately the best on that strip, but they are also very weary of tyre kickers.

I'd also advise that you're better off looking privately...as others have said, carsales.com.au or tradingpost.com.au are good places to start.

If you do want to buy from a dealer, then Northshore Prestige at Balgowlah is worth a try. I had a look at quite a few cars there and they were all of a very good quality. The guys there were also very helpful and knowledgeable about Skylines (and imports in general) and they also have a workshop on the premises as well which is good for any service or warranty work that may need to be done.

I almost purchased a car from them, but was lucky enough to find the mint example I now drive in a private ad for a fair bit cheaper than the price the dealer was after for the car I was interested in.

Don't waste your time on Parra Rd...unless of course, you want to pay top dollar for a lemon.

Manda,

Come see us and we can custom import the exact car you want from Japan for you. We'll sit down and explain the whole process to you and show you some examples of cars in Japan for auction. Best thing about this is you get the car for cost price rather than the retail price we'd have to charge if we bought it in our name.

    • I left the ceramic coating off this bit, hopefully it just comes off after a few drives.   The gap between the spokes is too tight for anything on a stick, its only marginally bigger than my finger. I have to use a brush to get in there and its a big reason why I thought I'd try the coating.   Absolutely will do. I have EBC Blue Stuff pads to put on the front which will make them a bit dirtier. I'm hoping a pressure wash will just get most off. The shine is different to most, its very thin but seems very well 'attached' so hopefully it lasts.
    • Barrels don't need to be shiny clean. But they are certainly nicer when they are not polluted with years of brake dust, and worse the rotting corpses of the last 17 balance weight sticky pads scattered all around.
    • Yeah, type a special character like ^ or | to initiate the equivalent of the "at"ing for thread links. Although, it might not get any easier to manage. Imagine 30 or 40 threads that kinda match what you want, and the one you want is lost after a long list of useless ones. The magic keyword version I proposed would be a manual effort to set up each case. More of a directed effort from the greybeards to facilitate exposure of useful content. I'm not against the auto complete stuff being considered - maybe por que no los dos? (And where I said "triggered automatically" in my OP, I meant "triggered accidentally". Of course I want it to be automatic!!)
    • Ah yes, fair enough! I was purely thinking about cleaning the spokes and front of the wheel with the mitt. For the barrel the rag on a stick makes more sense. I've tried cleaning the barrels on mine and gave up in frustration. Between brakes being in the way or spokes being in the way and limited space to constantly move the car front and back it was just too annoying. The barrel being as shiny as the rest of the wheel sounds amazing though. At this point I'm not even sure if they have the same surface finish on mine. But I feel inspired now to find out.
