Just found out a juicy bit of goss! Went to buy a part from a reseller on this site who didn't know if the item came with a warranty. <_< I contacted manufacturer to check & they said that only original purchaser gets a manufacturer warranty & as this person hadn't bought from them, the warranty lies with the orig purchaser! So your not getting a warranty unless you buy from an auth seller! Check before you buy & get caught out! Most prods come with some sort of warranty. I ended up buying from an auth agent. this includes places like ebay so buyer beware ask the question guys - I did

that's funny cause garage 13 is the one who didn't know if it had a warranty - their words exactly & the product they were sellling was not covered by manufactuers warranty - I checked - sorry but not everything you hear or are told is correct - all I'm saying is check & ask away if your not sure

thats not 100% the case......

it is with some brands but not with all....

for example if you buy a car ....it comes with a 3 year warrenty then if you sell the car the new buyer still gets the waarrenty correct???

i bought an engine for a client the other day it come with a 3 month warrenty...

i simply passed it on to the buyer of the engine and he filled it out and returned the slip to the place that i purchased it from....

not always the case

backyard parts dealer politics :D

the onus is on the customer to find out, if you buy a product with all the information you are given, you can't demand something which is not promised afterwards. What the manufacturer offers is irrelevant.

ok yes that is also true skyzalimit

but when it comes down to it we really we shouldnt even be having this conversation....if parts dealers just traded properly then this wouldnt happen....although its almost understandable when you think what we have to deal with these days.......

good points though ask all the questions before you buy and im sure the seller should be more then happy to answer every question no worries......

hmm, okies, i don't wanna say anything that will contradict what alex has told you. But everything i've purchased from him in the past i've been told if it doesn't work he'll swap or refund.

I've had experience with sellers in the past who have sold me parts which were faulty and i've been basically told "bad luck"

also, just be aware, that the seller can claim on the warranty for you, as they will have purchased the parts from a proper supplier. So effectively, they * can* offer you a warranty. even if the manufacturer only gives warrantys to proper suppliers

yehp yehp!!!

......basically make sure your dealing with someone that will look after you if something does go wrong.....

This is a good point.

I keep all documentation from all my transactions if a warranty claim arises or if the customer wants a copy.

Any decent seller will back this up 100%.

I am an authorised reseller of certain products as I meet the requirements of my suppliers. That means either they cover the warranty or more likely, I am entitled to use the manufacturers warranty as an authorised reseller of the product.

Warranties can be tricky and most don't pass on to a new owner e.g. with cars as I have been making some enquiries on that.

I am also more than happy to answer questions from would be customers on whether an item is under warranty. Always pays to check though as you are the customer with the dollars.

I don't get this about this seller - The Vic Distributor confirmed he wasn't an auth agent so I'm confused - anyway I got sorted by another auth agent for still a great price with all guarantees warranties etc so no beef but thought there might be others out there who hadn't even thought about it - hope everyone asks the questions they need to & it all works out right, as it should :D

    • Vinyl paint always ends up coming off interior trim and looking like arse. For the a pillar trims.....just try cleaning them with fabric shampoo? Maybe ditto for the headliner.
    • Hi everyone, I'm generally new to DIY projects, and I've browsed this forum and watched a lot of youtube videos but still have a few questions   Firstly, how does spray painting interior hold up? in particular like vinyl parts, my current mode of thinking is to use methyl spirits to take off original paint, clean/prep well, light coats, no primer or clear coat    Secondly, what is recommended for the headliner and, for example (my car is a r34), the A-pillars which are some kind of other fabric material, do you think I would be successful at retrimming these? or would it be better to go down the blacking out via Dupli-Color Vinyl & Fabric Paint    Any other advice / tips / tricks for refreshing/modernising these interiors?    Thanks
