The speed limit advisory group will review the guidelines governing the introduction of 40km/h and 50km/h zones, due to concerns which have been raised over frequent changes in speed zones.

If you've got any input you want to share, go to the Arrive Alive website and leave some feedback.

Do I smell an election? :)

Looking for ways to make us happy/buy some votes!

I was stunned one day to find the main road from my place had the speed changed from 40 to 60!!!! Now its just 40 in school times (fair enough)

It was almost impossible to do 40 along that road, and there were speed cameras there nabbing every second driver a few times a week. Pure revenue raising.

Maybe now they'll listen, now that its in their interest!

I live on an enclosed COURT that's just over 100m long it's a 40 zone because it's bounded by a school. if you did anything more than 40 on my street then you'd be asking for trouble in the first place.

how the hell can they enforce the speed limit on a 100m long court anyway? will a cop sit up the end with a radar gun? :D

Ssshhhhh........... don't give them any ideas!!!!!!!!!

If you saw the street i was talking about, you wouldn't be suprised. <_<

ill give some feedback on the site. i ignore the speed limit most of them its too bloody confusing, i drive at a safe speed and keep a safe distance and im fine (well so far), i cant keep track of the speed limit changing every 500m

The recent speed limit changes are too confusing and it is not always obvious what speed you should be travelling at.

I often find myself guessing some of the time as its 40km/h then 50km/h then 60k/h then 40km/h all in the stretch of a few km's or so.

In Mt Alexander rd (Moonee Ponds, VIC) where it is enforced to a lower speed when the digital signs change to 40km/h (after 7pm Wed-Sun) the majority of motorists ignore it and tailgate very closely. Some make dangerous manoeuvres around your vehicle travelling at the imposed 40km/h limit possibly making it even more dangerous for pedestrians and/or parked cars.

So you either speed up to avoid them rear-ending you (in the event of emergency stop) or stay just below 40km/h and accept road rage from motorists who

a) Don't notice the speed change

B) Don't care about the speed change and travel at 60km/h anyway

I guess they feel their speed is safe and disregard the "digital speed system".

I cant see how anyone can complain about having to go 40 outside of a primary school. I think its a great idea.

But then again I dont live near any zones that change to 40 that arent around a school.
