hav a tiptronic 34 and am in the process of moding it. just wondering if anybody has had any experience or heard anything of how much power the transmission is good for in terms of rear wheel kw's without damaging it.

this is going to sound pretty lame but i bought the tiptronic because the mrs wont drive a manual. and i thought why not being tiptronic.

Yeah, i only got the tiptronic myself, becuase the nice yellow manual he had was going to cost me 10K more, and like u said, tiptronic, why not, change gears on steering wheel, and hold a beverage lol

I blew mine up by taking it to the track a lot. I had 189rwkw for a while and that's when the damage was done. Then I got 228rwkw and it blew the night I got it back from the mechanics.

Heat gets to them.

Check the group buy section for valvebody replacements and the info in there.

thanks abo bob, i'll take that on board as i have a full exhaust system and am ready to set the 34 up with a front mount and boost controll(14psi). with these mods i am hoping to see somewhere round 200 rwkw's, hoping.

Becareful...at 14psi u might blow ur turbo before damaging the GB.

i understand that the 34 has a ceramic turbine and that anything above 1 bar (14.7 psi) and the turbine can detonate. although i had heard that it was safe to run it at 14 psi, but if u have heard otherwise i am willing to take it on board.

[NJR 34GTT]

12 psi is the generally maximum accepted "safe" level for the street. Even lower for the track. My tuning results proved that there was no point running more than 12 on the stock turbo.

You have to be quite lucky for it not to blow the turbo at 14psi. As NJR says, the turbo doesn't do anything usefull above 12 psi anyway.
