CCNA or MCSE?

I agree and disagree with Andrew. I work for Telstra and have worked for Optus and IBM. It really depends which part of the organisation that you work. IBM is a big company - this means red tape. Telstra has this and so does Optus - All big companies do. If you want to work on Big Networks, these are the sorts of companies you want to target - Forget working for Cisco or Nortel - these guys just want to just flog products.

You also have to consider the area within IT that you want to work or aspire to work. Operations (good grounding but you wouldn't want to work there for ever) Architecture, Design, Product Development, Systems, Testing ? There are heaps of areas.

In terms of IT Operations, Telstra , Optus, IBM - they are all the same - Obstinate roadblocks :P

I found this place that does the ccna course (hope its not like the tafe course i did)

man its so cheap and its on saturdays and like 99% prac

looks good im getting some information sent out. They said the teacher is like CCIE or CCNP.

goto completely disagree with you there - that could be said for any company you work in especially if it's in a project manager or sales role.

while working for cisco as a tech support - I learnt a hell of a lot more there than I have since - working for a vendor gives you an in depth knowledge and access to information the general public don't get.

Im kinda in the same shoes as you champ.....

finished studying network engineering and CCNA preperation for CCNA exam....bu didnt go for it cus i was lazy lol

and now just doing level 1 help desk, until i get my CCNA and experience and then go for a proper network support role.....

But yeh bro i feel ya man it is hard without any experience and proper certificates under your belt, these days network engineers with CCNA are applying for level 2 help desk roles, so how are we gonna compete :):(
