all they need to do with that system, is to make it keep a last known GPS location, that would solve the problme justin pointed out....if it takes note of the GPS location b4 it was driven into the garage etc, then you basically pin point the car down to their driveway

Sure does Dezz.

Just my opinion, if anyone could afford a Skyline of any type, they should always get, at the VERY least, 3rd party fire and theft. If you can't afford this, you can't afford to maintain it, thus you can't afford to keep the car.

100% agreed. same for any car. it should be the law to have third party at a very minimum....but if you cant afford to insure your car, you cant afford the car

i stopped myself buying certain cars a while ago for this very reason...

and if the GPS alarm does what i said above, then it should be basically full proof

I think every car does have third part minimum in the rego :P

thought so...but too easy for dead heads to drive around un-registered

and if thats the case, why are people always whinging about other people driving around un-insured

if someone steals ya car and parks it underground the GPS probs wont be able to pick it up tho

That seam’s true but I would think most thief’s would either take the car for a joy ride or drive it somewhere to be striped down... That being said I know that if your car has being started or even if you disconnect the battery without dis-arming the system that with in a min you would receive a phone call from quick track confirming your car and they will dispatch a guard or police to intercept the vehicle..

Now I don't know, if the car has being driven to an underground location if they can still track it, but they would need to be very quick about it because they will respond very promptly.

midnight... i was driving on beach road, saw a S2 33, but i was driving into the sun, lots of traffic. It didn't look black, but a dark colour...

was gun metal every available in S2? i didn't think it was...

it could have been a dark blue, i tried looking in the rear view mirror, but nearly had a crash  this was around 4:00pm Tuesday afternoon,

i forgot completely to post this.

It was on Beach rd, not far from Elwood park? um... i just call it beach rd cos it's a long the beach, but i know the road changes names... might be an esplanade. But yeah, opposite that picnic type area in Elwood.

are you thinking the car is in the northern suburbs??

I think every car does have third part minimum in the rego

The third party on your rego is PUBLIC LIABILITY insurance, it does not cover other ppl's cars or property.

I also beleive that 3rd party insurance should be made law. Do it like Europe, you have to present a current insurance policy when paying rego.

werd.

didnt think the insurance on rego covered cars

should be compulsory to have third party property damage !

shit, its a couple of hundred, less on shit boxes

I saw a car matching your description but with stock rims parked on osborne ave clayton/springvale 10pm on monday nite.

I was a passenger so a got a fair look even @ the speed my mad running late mate was travelling @, but i didnt see this thread till today so I didnt stop to check for the bonnet mark ect.

100% certain its a dark blue car..95% sure it was an s2.

Might be worth a look...

Sorry that i cant go and check for certain that the car is still there, but im about a 40 min drive away.

Anyway goodluck * peers out the window at his own cars, i've got 3 in the driveway and had the alarms go off 4 times this past week + my nice neighbour spotted a "skanky bogan" in my driveway last week also in my front yard around 8pm last nite...*heads back out front with his trusty bat. Damn I hate people!! especially those toothless dim witted pricks with poor personal hygiene that the suburbs seem awash with.

Correct. Only covers the 3rd party individual.

With the UK you now have to take the insurance certificate and the annual roadworthy equivilant certificate called the MOT to get taxed not just insurance which is even better IMO as it prevents bangers going around that are the real road worthy issues.

Sorry to put this in the stolen thread but at least it is keeping it at the top for you mate.

sent you a pm mate...hasnt appeared in my sent items though so i'll post instead/aswell

The car i saw was on the springvale side of osborne ave...so thats a right turn off westall rd if your city bound, the car was parked in the street on the l/h/s.

I noticed it coz im a liner owner and it's my job to notice other lines :P

The color stood out to me because I thought it was another black car like mine till we were right on it I didnt realize it was a dark blue and i've only ever seen 2 in that color. The stock rims on a neat car also made me cringe just a lil bit also.

Anyway if im bored shitless tonite I'll take that drive for you and see if I can spot it...If I do i'll take your mobile # with me. If your going for a look tonite pm me maybe we can meet up and search the area properly.

Goodluck...

    • careful when running the car after a boil over. Ive heard you can lose enough coolant that it won't show the right temps because of too much air in the system (or something like that). Make sure the levels are good before trying again.  Maybe a mobile mechanic can come have a look with their scan tool ?
    • OK, just for some extra clarity - there is more than one option at Frenchy's. 1. You can buy the whole kit - with or without the actual compressor. The whole kit includes mounts, hoses, condensor, etc. That's either ~$2200 or ~$2800. No surgery required with this option. 2. You can buy just the bracket (~$600), or the bracket with the compressor (~$1200). Either of this or the above option "without the compressor" is if you already have an Echo comp or you are able to source one locally. Whatever the case, in this option, you will need surgery done on your hoses to adapt to the new compressor. When I said "the Frenchy's kit", I meant the whole kit in option 1. It is obviously somewhat more $$ than a $1500 OEM compressor. But if I had to spend $1500 on an OEM compressor, I would certainly consider spending double that to renew and significantly update everything forward of the firewall. Another option is to rebuild your original compressor. My R34 comp is currently dead and I will be most likely doing that to it if the spare one in the shed is also leaky.
    • I’m thinking that’s the route I’ll  go, thanks for the input!
    • Hey all, my 2004 Nissan Skyline 350GT overheated the other day with coolant boiling and leaking out of the coolant reservoir when I was parking. So today, I started it up again just to see if it was a thermostat/head gasket issue. After about 20 mins of running, temps were normal again, no coolant was leaking out and the upper reservoir hose was warm but my engine suddenly cut off. I checked the oil dipstick and cap when it was running and there was no white foamy residue and the exhaust did not have white smoke. I tried starting up the car again but it would only crank, similar to when I had a camshaft sensor issue just that now there’s no check engine light on the dash. Any ideas? Unfortunately I don’t have an OBD2 that can read the Nissan's programme.
    • Bump on this to not make another post, had a ‘head drain’ leak on me and have the engine out as we speak. Planning on just putting a new freeze plug back in , plug the tapped holes and just be done with that headache.    Now I still want to relieve pressure to allow oil to pass down the blocks returns easier. I’ve seen catch cans with multiple vents help folks with this issue on this forum.  I’m wanting to make my own. I have some pictures here of my setup if anyone can help how I should plumb and design the catch can I would deeply appreciate it !   rb25 Oil upgrades: 1.0mm restrictor n1 pump/billet gears extended crank collar  extended sump with trap doors/w welded fitting
