I remember reading the SMH and they stated Will Davidson was supposed to be racing in Germany not Christian Jones, but due to Will already having a contact for Bathurst he couldn't do both obviously.

So im guessing one of the Will's will be driving next round ;)

Its official, Jones Jr could very well be a hack. Surely the Asian F3 series is just about the weakest in the world. Surely the local series or F4000 series is more competitve then competing against a bunch of hacks in Indonesia, Phillipines, Hong Kong etc

I dont doubt that he isnt too bad a driver, better then i will ever be, but he sure as sh1t aint the best young bloke we have to offer the series:(

we'll be there racing formula ford

Christian couldn't drive out of a wet paper bag! jeez! Id even have my money on Roy boy being able to steer better than him.... his father is the only reason he is driving this car, and to put it bluntly CJ has hardly set the world on fire in karts FFord or F3.... hiding off in Asian F3 and racing a bunch of other sons or rich fathers is hardly great news!!!

I tell you who should be driving for our A1 team....

James Courtney!!!!! how many world champions on 4 wheels has Australia had???

3!

Sir Jack

AJ

and JC! 2 times world karting champ!!!!

hmmm.... why is he not racing this car!!

AJ is probably afraid JC would smash the wall in the first 10 laps leaving JR without a drive for the day :O

Yeah JC would be a great choice, and its great to see both WP and WD going so well. RB is the other obvious choice but it seems like he is serious about only turning left 4 times each lap

Having said that....its great that this is run in the off season, even MW could give it a run in his spare time.

And I think its great that we can produce competitive drivers on the world stage :( This is great for the aussies trying to get through in open wheel racing since it is actually getting some interest in Aus, unlike F3, GP2, Nippon, IRL, RWS etc etc etc

faster than F3 yes.... slower than say F1 and borderline GP2....

now young ryan is a good steerer! he is only doing as big bad boss toyota tell him too :)

I think the wall at ried park has a few famous names on it.... the list just from this last weekend is long, and distinguished!!!

James is a tough nut, anyone that had a 210MPH crash at monza...(left turn into the armco) because the rear wishbone melted (CF) and had brain stem related headaches for 6 months consequently went from domminating the euro F3 championship to losing by a very small margin....

getting dropped by those pricccccs that call them selves jaguar! was sweet to see all the guys that cast off JC after the accident all out of a job! priceless....

so yeah, if anyone deserved of a drive in a openwheeler, it him... why on earth his manager Alan Gow is chasing up contracts to drive super GT in japan I have no idea!!!

:) get CJ out of there and GET JC I tell u :D

I've taken the weekend off work to go to this event.

I'm suprised at how much a General Access pass is considering how new the event is, it's AU $95.00... it's AU $150.00 for a grandstand pass.

interesting idea duncan. Mark Webber in A1...hmm at least he'd finally have a car that was competetive with the rest of the field. sadly though i think Williams might have other plans for his off season :(

  • 2 weeks later...

Anyone has tickets yet? according to ticketmaster there are no grandstand tickets left.

Also all the tickets seem to be on the expensive side. I ll probably go with the general admission.

Does anyone have any ideas for the most exciting spots to camp? We always go to the area around the last corner, but there isn't much action there unless it rains. Maybe corner 1 is somewhat crash worthy?

Any ideas?

Corner 1 could be a goer...

I can already imagine some of the less noteworthy drivers in the field trying bansai overtaking maneouvers at the end of the straight. All will be well till they've overtaken the car next to them and then realised they've got no time to brake before going straight across the sandtrap.

As for CJ driving, it's a joke. If I recall correctly, he was by far the slowest driver of the Aussies to test at EC in the A1 car earlier this year. It's our home GP, logic would say we should be putting our best driver in the car for a good showing...not some clown that has nothing more than bloodlines to a former world champion.

Should be a great weekend

I will be there on Sunday, probably at Turn 1.

I will be supporting the country with a famous tree as well as the Aussies. I hope CJ isn't driving. But I will have more chance of winning lotto the day before.

I'm heading to turn one. It is the best spot as you can see plenty of the track from the top of the hill and can avoid the sun later in the day.

I was at a recent historic meet at EC watching a '84 twin turbo F1 Ferrari trash the field (which will be there this weekend) from turn 1. It is only one of two places where at the fence, you are at eye level with car's. They should be hitting around 260km/h though T1 along with sound resinating off the hill will create a pretty cool location to watch the race.

I started a thread for a cruise to the race. If your interested go to http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=93102

    • I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it,  and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real
    • Actually I might have figured out. Looks like there is a tab according to google images but it's hidden. Silly me.
    • No clips on this one like the other connector. Only that red tab that I can push slightly up.
    • For any loom connector that has an obvious release that resists pushing far enough to unclip, just spray some silicone lube into it. You might also benefit from using a bent screwdriver or small pick to push in the right place at the right angle.
    • Hey all, I went to try and fix my indicator not canceling, but I couldn't remove the clockspring cable under the column so I could twist that green thin. Anyone know how to remove this cable? I see this red tab but didn't have any luck. I was thinking of unscrewing it but wasn't sure if it would cause issues. I did notice for my indicator stalk, 2 out of 3 cables were plugged in but the last cable wouldn't fit in the stalk. I'm getting it's for fog lights. It was like this when I originally pulled it off.
