The car in questions intake temperature rose dramatically (bigish single turbo which was only just starting to get into its efficiency range, so that wasnt the problem) above 15psi, it just didnt seem to have the capability to scrub the heat from the air passing through. Wether this was poor internals on the runners, or a poor front end surface meaning the air didnt pass through it very well not sure.

Car is an R32 GTR which ended up making 390kw on ~23psi boost with a HKS Type R cooler and kept inlet temps nice and cool.

When you put it like that it make more sence. If the hybrid cooler was on say an rb20 with a 2530 turbo running 15psi im sure it would be fine but it would be probably be only making 200rwkw ish. I guess its probably best rating an intercooler on a power rating than a psi rating. 390kw is a lot im only guessing but the stock GTR intercooler would be probably out of its efficency level at that power too?

cheers

I have a hybird copy in my R32 and it works great! Doesn't block flow to the radiator and is very effective, after a long fast drive I touch the inlet and it is pretty warm, then touch the outlet and it is actually really cold.

Hmmmm so the original hybrid are ok then ay,hmm sounds ok but like i said i dont want to be cutting in the chassis and fan, if i go a intercooler aswell there is no way of saving the standard snorkel used with the airbox ay thats gotta go?? Is there such a thing as a direct bolt on where nothing needs to be touched and just goes on and works well????

The Blitz LM intercooler kit uses the standard route for piping from what i could find out.I too am not keen on cutting and hacking away at my car just for the sake of saving a few $. Do a search or call Autobarn who sells them. Oh and they are slightly smaller than the Hybrid cores.

Peter

the blitz uses same piping route and nothing is touched and you can retain everything stock ,the kit only comes with 2 pipes and is a very fast install say 30mins ,if that . but the thing i dont like as you cannot change your plenum ,without changing coolers. so you are comitted once you get it.

the r33 and 34 kits are the same aswell.

here are some pics. :P
