Just had my car back on the dyno, after my latest lot of mods. Was hoping for a few more kw than the 117rwkw that my car got but at least it was a gain. Dyno was run in 3rd gear.

My car seems to running a bit lean through the mid range, so might have to invest in a fuel pressure regulator.

And it definatly looks like I need to get some bigger cams :P or more tuning or something, the power really drops off up the top end.

The next mods I'm looking at is installing an electric fan and installing a bigger throttle body.

Anyway here's my print out

Yeah I thought it was a bit funny that they ran the dyno in 3rd, don't know why they did that??? <_<

So far the mods that have been done are, exhaust 2 1/2", extractors, K&N pod filter with cold air intake, custom 3" intake pipe from the pod to the trottle body, and running an after market ECU (GTS link).

would be interesting to compare your dyno to a dyno dynamics readout with someone who has similar mods.

as i personally think that you should be pushing more power.

shouldn't it should be fine to do it in 3rd gear if they configure the dyno for 3rd? but hmm... 4th....

eug

p.s - did u retain the VVT with the GTS Link?

Eug, Yeah I'm a bit disapointed with the 117rwkw I was hoping for over 120rwkw, but it is at least a step in the right direction.

Yep it's still running the vvt with the link ecu.

Al, when the ecu was installed and tuned earlier this year it was set up with different mods to what I have now, when I changed to the custom intake and added the pod filter it obviously changed all the air/fuel ratios and the car needs to go back in for more tuning to correct this. I have been putting it off untill I have got more of my planned mods done, I have cams, throttle body and a few other bit's to be done before it goes back to the tuners.

The ECU (GTS link) I'm using is most commonly used on turbo skylines.

I'm not familiar with the Apexi power FC, but from what I have heard are better than the link ecu's. I can't see why they couldn't be used on a N/A car, although better to find someone that knows for sure.

    • Nah, you failed to pay your washer cover subscription and BMW have revoked your access.
    • Haha thanks Lith,  So it's currently working quite well and the torque reduction is setup and working phenomenal. It also got a custom torque convertor from All Fast in WA. Stall speed somewhere around 5500rpm unlocked but still with the lockup. The car went back onto the dyno after a 3yr hiatus (even with the dbw, and other mods completed in this time) managed to make ~515kw at all 4 hubs. Sean setup the Torque reduction which now sounds awesome and working well. We setup adjustable torque controlled launch control aswell.  Man what a feature. Especially when drag racing on street tyres I Managed to get out to the drags late last year and tick a huge bucket list item off of running mine and the cars first 9. Car went a 9.98 @142 Still had the young fellas car seat in the back aswell.  This was on 255/40/17 Nankang AR-1.  Currently the Turbolamik is still completing it's own torque calcs and managing shift times from there. Unfortunately emtrons can export is still a little restrictive to export the ecu calculated torque just yet but I have recently been suggested a work around that I just haven't had a chance to trial yet.
    • Yeah its bad eh. Ey! Watch your mouth. Yep, spot on. The rear's are always gone too though from brake checking. I had them perilously close to a tree that we had taken down. I think the tree peeps may have taken it. Either for a trophy, or accidentally.
    • f**kin' yikes! That insulation is the shittest stuff I have ever seen. You need to do an insurance job on that f**ker, pronto. WRT to the washer cover, I would have said that there'd have to be some at a wrecker, then remembered that it's a BMW, and reasoned that every single wrecked one would have been tailgating and so the front end would be trashed.
