opps wrong acusations! to answer some of your questions, easiest way to see if there has been any crash/panel works is to look really carefully at the paint on each and every panel.

Run your fingers over and see how smooth it is. The original paint has little rigit over it but if you see any panel with REALLY smooth paint, then it had been resprayed..

@akeenan: Wanna swap? :)

well obviously he's a car sales person and he wants to get rid of it..they are not gonna say its been smashed and in crap quality.. they will try their best to promote the car for the sale (Keep that in mind).. The dandenong place i was talking about said the same thing, but when looked carefully it had been in an accident..

Get a RACV check as some suggested..will cost you $210 but you have to take the car to their nearest Caryard as they will not come and look at it because it is an import. Take the car for 4-5 hours leave it with them and they will give you a report and gradings on the whole car. Its worth it.

hehe im stresed about the engine, i am commited now i cannot back out i have put a $2k deposit on it, from what i tested it seemed fine to me but there are things i wouldnt be able to pick out like a mechanic would, ill just get it tesated when ni get it and fix anything needed, if its real bad ill go and bash the guy :)

this isnt really off the topic but i'll tell anyhow. I was just at chadstone skateboarding and there were heaps of cops everywhere. to cut a long story short a cop came over and started asking me the usual questions anyhow he finally said did you drive here tonite and i said yes and he goes which is your car and i gave a very vague point towards my skyline and he says oh ok thats fine! and they drove off.

anyways he said it was auction grade 5,

As akeenan started to say, it is not possible that it was Grade 5. Only showroom condition - brand new cars are rated as 5. You probably are getting a nice example but definately not 5. The guy is talking crap there. Ask any reputable importer here for a run down on the gradings. Geoff @ PrestigeMotorsport has it listed on his site!

Grade 4.5 is like one or two tiny blemishes that will rub out.

FYI: I have got a 1998 build r34 gtt that was rated as a 4 with a couple of minor scratches but barely noticeable.

oops, just read the last couple of posts...

how long have grades 6 > 9 been around? Never heard of those before! No i am not a newbie either.

What is your source for this info alexR33?? just curious

that price includes 1 year registration freshly done in my name when i purchase the vehicle

If it had never been registered in Oz before then you would have to get 12 months reg as a minimum anyway. But its good that the seller "appears" to be paying for this though!

Not sure about grading 6 > 9. But from 1 - 5 is the rating the car was imported from Jap.

    • I buy my wheel cleaner in 4 litre bottles now. Euro brakes are brutal
    • Sounds like it may all just be some baseless outrage stoked by the carexplore guy? As in the linked social media outrage on facebook just goes back to carexplore as a source again. Further shown by the council response that nothing actually has changed: "The Private Land Use Permit has been part of the Casey Community Local Law for a number of years. It's important to clarify that this permit is not new, and no changes have been made to the permit or the Local Law in relation to the permit." The full council response in Prank's link sounds reasonable to me. Saying that as someone who neither lives there nor has a front yard to call their own
    • Clutch hydraulics are also all good, looks like a brand new slave cylinder and everything bled up well. No idea what the actual clutch is, and I don't intend to pull the box off on the floor to find out, so unless we have trouble on the dyno or at shakedown that will remain a mystery for the new owner
    • Front brakes are G4 8 pot calipers over 330mm discs with braided lines. Everything looks good, pretty sure these are off my old 350. Pads are brand new and judging from gold colour are Winmax which is what I also run on my race car, Neil and I both sourced brake stuff from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney who really knows his stuff Everything has bled up nicely with all new Motul RBF600 fluid, there were 2 loose hard line connections and the calipers were new on the car so I ended up doing it 3 times but it is perfect now
    • So, starting with the rear brakes. They look like standard R33 GTST, and will need new pads shortly (less than 5mm material, probably only 1 day left). The slotted discs (probably DBA) are near new at 18.01mm and the lines are braided
