Hi...Anyone here using or have used Ohlins coilovers before on a r33 gts-t? Got some questions on them...

Cheers~

Yep, I have used many sets of Ohlins in numerous race cars. What type are you talking about? The genuine Swedish Ohlins or the ones made in Japan under licence? I have modified a couple of sets of Jap Ohlins, lowered the springs rates, increased the height adjustment range etc. I have a set of R32GTR Jap Ohlins that I am working onright now.

So please, ask away

:D cheers :D

I can't say I've used the car stuff, but have run the motorcycle stuff in a number of roadrace and MX bikes - it is the TOP of the game in that field. If the car stuff is anywhere near the quality of the moto stuff, it should be very good gear.

I have Ohlins coilovers in my R33 GTR. Came with the car but suppose to be good stuff worth 5k?, damper adjustable via allen key up front and a black dial behind the rear wheels. Considering changing to a set of Eibach springs.

macattack: did you notice any difference swapping from the springs with ohlins to eibach?

Ferni & SK,

When I bought the car I was able to purchase a second hand set to replace the OEMs.

The Eibachs were already installed on the set.

I am not sure of the spring rates but it is a real nice inbetweener. (No doubt SK you could tell me where to check).

Not too hard not too soft. I find the rear lifts a wheel occasionally on the track so I will need to soften the arse slightly but all in all they are pretty bloody good.

Yeah, still plenty there. Mainly on hairpin corners, I tend to come through on either 2 or 3 wheels, then light all four up on the exit.

My guess would be insufficient front anti roll or excessive rear anti roll. What size stabiliser bars do you have on it?

:) cheers :)

Well i'm looking at a 2nd hand set but i dunno the model and specifications on it...the longer ones are the rear yeah..those have a knob down below which can be turned presumably fer rebound rate i heard as there is a "H" and "S" on it which i guess stands fer hard n soft..then the knob on the top of the coilovers in the middle..what does that tune? i heard its the compression that is adjusted thru that...the weird thing is that the front coilovers from the same set don't have the knob down below and just the knob up on top..is this normal? does that mean the front coilovers are non-damper adjustable? And the height, is it adjustable thru the same way as like TEINS? cuz it doesnt come with any tuning fork...

Pls advice~thanx!

SK

Stock!!

What would you recommend?

Ahh, that explains it.

I would go with the BNF27XZ (24mm) on the front and the BNR26XZ (24mm) on the rear. You can probably get them at the Group Buy price of $219 + $20 for freight. That will include an additional hole on each arm for extra adjustment. PM me if you are interested, other details are on the R32GTR/GTS4 Group Buy thread.

:P cheers :D

The knob at the top on Ohlins is for rebound adjustment, it adjusts the valving via a shaft that goes down to the piston, inside the main shock shaft. The knob on the bottom of the rears is interesting, that would normally be for bump valving adjustment. But I never seen Skyline Ohlins with that feature. Some pictures would be handy.

My 32 GTR came with ohlins set up with RSR springs. The springs were too stiff so i put in whiteline spring set.

the shocks are too stiff for sydney roads though, must be the valving.

the front shocks have no adjustment but the rears have a H, S dial on the side of the tube.

They r made in japan.

Top? i dunno never had a look didn't know it would have a setting on top of the rears, i assumed the black knob was the only adjustment?

The fronts are hard to get a photo off without taking the wheel off - but they look the same except no black knob. same circlip adjustable hight, with an alen key under the bonnet on tops of the shocks. Do you want more info or photos?

DO you think i'll have an adjustment under my parcel shelf on top of the rears? i've tried to get my parcel shelf out before but it was way hard so i gave up (aftermarket parcel shelf).
