I held back on responding because, like Roy, I thought it was a waist of time. But heck, I am bored and rattling someone’s cage is good for the soul occasionally, as long as it is done with a smile of course

And an R32GTR N1 is 1515 kgs, that’s less than 2% difference. you really do need to check the homologation papers.

And an R33 GTR comes with 9” wheels on all 4 corners :P

The same 4 tyres will ALWAYS have more traction than the same 2 tyres, regardless of power.:P

On a prepared drag strip specifically designed for 2wd drag cars. On the street it would be lucky to do a 12, a 9 sec GTR will do 9’s on the street just as well as it will on the track. It doesn’t need a prepared surface to run within 10% of its potential.

They won NOTHING until the GTR’s stopped racing. :mage:

So you are saying if Mario had spent the same money on a Supra he would be driving it? Oh my you need to open your eyes. He doesn’t drive it because he has business issues that prevent him competing. And I suppose the worlds fastest Supra has a stock standard engine? :P

I won’t stoop to insults, that’s childish. Everyone (except you) knows that the 1989/90 model R32GTST manual (no sunroof) weighs 1265 kgs with a full tank. Later models and those with more options weight more.

If my power target is under 625bhp that’s $600 I don’t have to spend on a GTR. That’s $600 I can spend on something else to make it faster, not make up for a deficiency in its design.

Wow, I only managed a race team that ran Supras for 3 years, I didn’t know that. All I know is the bustards just got slower and slower as the races went on, the heat soak killed them. The rear tyres lasted 3 laps at best. Not to mention the heat from the turbos cooking the brake and clutch fluid. At least GTR’s have the turbos on the LHS and the tyres last a 20 minute race.

If my power target is under 300 rwkw that’s $1000 I don’t have to spend on a GTR. That’s $1000 I can spend on something else to make it faster, not make up for a deficiency in its design.

.

You obviously had a problem understanding what I wrote about the GTR’s on radials that run regular 9’s. I suggest you go back and read it again. Supras are popular drag cars in the US, because they were sold there, because the turbo/turbos are on the passengers side there, because there are thousands of them running around as road cars, bits are cheap and common.

That’s the law of supply and demand at work. The fact is no one wants a Supra, so their price is depressed. Everyone wants a GTR, so their price is heightened. You actually lose the argument right here.

As I said above, I spent years managing a race team with Supras, I know which car I would much rather have. Which car is going to win (or have a very good chance of winning) in Production or Improved Production racing. Has 16 years of circuit racing history, homologation and development. The GTR is not a legend for no reason, there is plenty of true substance.

Don’t get me wrong, a Supra is an OK car and a 2JZ is a pretty good engine internally, but there are plenty of better 2wd cars around. The real issue is a GTR is the 4wd Godzilla and it always will be.:yes:

Cheers

There are street supras constantly running low 8's on radials in the US, it has been shown over and over again. Don't believe it, just search the US forums for a treat, u'll see more supras run faster times in Uerope, Us, Stockholm etc than any gtr's here or Japan. As for a gtr running 9 on the track, yes, but on the street it'll have to be pretty damn prepared to do that, i mean slicks att all 4 and c16 other ways  . I have seen quicker times from supras than gtr. One question, If in Europe and the US allow cars such as ferraris, lambos, evos, wrxs etc, why wouldn't they allow a nissan gtr? Someone from Titan motorsports was saying that to make a gtr run 9's or even low 10's it will need a lot of money, as for the supra do a single conversion good rubber and off u go, or something along those lines.

I just had a look at HPI magazine. No 8 or 9 second Supras here in OZ on radials. But I did notice there were some GTR's running in the 8's and 9's on radials.

The Ice Performance Supra ran it's best time of 10.91 with 390rwkw.Increasing the power to 500rwkw+ has not resulted in faster times, just a higher MPH.That was what Sydneykid was refering to.Not many GTR's dont get faster with an extra 100kw

I dont think the ICE car has seen a serious go at the drags in years, just the Auto Salon thing..

Meh, both cars are for lighweight cheaters who want their equipment to do all the hardworl...real men drive BDA Escorts :P

Definitely had 3 goes at the track,as well as the AutoSalon thing.Ran the 10.91 first time, clutch dramas second time, big MPH 3rd time, but no quicker.I'd love to see slicks and gas and a 9.Definitely has the power.

I have to say it...drag racing is gay so who cares :P

Its fun...but definitely gay!!! :P

Iv been to a few HKS street drag meets in Japan at Central

Circuit and here its obvious the GTR is the car of choice over the Supra. These cars are almost all driven to the circuit and all run Nitto's. There were 20-30 GTR running 9's and 10's and maybe 1 or 2 Supras doing the same.

    • All I can say Duncan is good luck and I hope that Neil did not run any E85 in Cheryl. I have recently experienced the full spectrum of fuel tank issues in my R33's that had been caused by E85 and contaminated fuel. When you take the cover off the top of the tank and have a look inside you will get an understanding of how easy it will be. Best case situation is clean fuel with minimal contamination. My GTR was like this and it was a very simple operation to just grab the fuel pump carrier bracket and slide it up and out of the tank. My three GTS_T's had different levels of fuel contamination that was probably caused by E85 in the fuel.  In the worst case all of the metal components in the tank had rusted to the point where there were pieces of rusted metal swirling around in the tank. This required the removal of the exhaust, the tailshaft, the complete rear cradle and the fuel tank. The components in the tank were that rusted that it took days to get the fuel pump carrier and the mounting brackets out of the tank. When the tank was finally cleaned, everything inside the tank had to be replaced. With the tank all back together I could then reinstall it in the car along with everything else that had to come out. Good luck and I hope that you find a clean tank.
    • It is a two door. It is black and also still has the OEM wheels and stereo. Exact model would be KR_R32RGFEL_SS According to GTR-Registry.com is a 2 Door Coupe; RB20DE; 2WD no HICAS; MT.F5; (11L) Projector Headlamps and Fog Lights; (12_) Electronic Active Full Auto Air Con (Climate Control); (13-14SS) V Selection -- Which seems to be accurate description of my variant. Will try to upload a few pictures soon. The OEM wheels look like the below image. Image is taken from the goo-net-exchange website.

    • Welcome Gabriel. At least your car has a glorious RB and not the shitty CA18. As MBS206 mentioned all the good bits can be added later. Two doors or four?
    • And half of them have been converted to turbos.
