hi, just bought an rb25 turbo and want to bolt it to my rb20. i know it is a direct swap and that i need the rb25 elbow.

what i want to know is, when i do the conversion, do i have to take the manifold off? cos if i didnt, this would save me a lot of money for the gasket.

did a search, didnt have exactly what i want. even went through all 17 pages of old posts :P

no you dont have to take the manifold off, as the turbo just bolts straight onto the manifold.

I know this for a fact as i have an rb25 with rb20 turbo and when i went to change the rb20 turbo to rb25, i didnt neeed to take the manifold off

cheers man, my friend just told me that when he did it he had to take the manifold off, but he just said that he only did it to make it easier, but he did have to buy another gasket... was it much of a pain in the ass to get the turbo on/off with the manifold in place?

Its not a hard job at all I did it last weekend. It is just very time consuming as some of the bolts and stuff can be a bit tricky to get to. helps alot if you have the right tools.

How much did you pay for the RB25 turbo? Reason I ask is Ive just bought an RB25 NEO turbo and am going to put that on my Stagea and sell off the standard one.

Im not too sure if its worth selling, due to being in the 'defect-state of australia' but What are they worth? (I believe its in good condition, been on 9 and 10spi since its been in Australia for the past 12 months, and was stock for 50000kms in Japan - probably)

They say you dont make friends with salad... But in this case i will help....

I have done this swap more then any other.... Its easy about 3 hours of pure fun....

Everything bolts straight up except the top oil feed.... You will need to bend it slightlly to fit.... But be carefull not to bent it too much as it will crimp the line down and reduce flow... We dont want that....

Apart from that its bolt in and out.... My 3 hour estimate is me with 3 breaks of 10 minutes for smokes and coke......
