TokyoTaxi
Try using the search feature Heaps of info available. ( How did they re-gas the system when the compressor doesn't work ? ) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/89303-air-con-blowing-hot-air/#findComment-1612271 Share on other sites

Bov
I had a similar thing happen to me last weekend. I fitted a new Alpine sound system. Went to use the heater and all I got was HOT all the time. Did a self diagnostic check on the climate control it indicated a short in the PBR. Error code was -26. What had happenned was when I fitted the stereo I crushed a climate control wire and it shorted. After pulling out the hardware (stereo and climate control unit) I wiggled the wires a bit and put it back together. Did another dig. check and it had fixed itself. Gues the wire straightned itself out. The diagnostic procedure is documented in the R32 manual - available on this site - somewhere. Bov
Compressor is there to cool the air (like a refigerator). The heater unit is located within the climate control box under the dash and is water fed. It should still heat ok. Dahtone Racing
it could also be the ambient air temp sensor in the front bar Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/89303-air-con-blowing-hot-air/#findComment-1615451 Share on other sites

Bliksem
For the R33 hold down the off button for 5 seconds (or until diagnostic mode is launched) within the first 10 seconds of starting the car then press the heat button (red triangle) once to enter the sensor check diagnostic. wait a few seconds and a code will be displayed on the unit 20 = everything is normal press the heat button again and it will go into door position mode (the motor that switches which vent/s air is blown) if 30 is displayed then everything is normal. you'll have to do a search to find out what the other codes mean as i can't remember. oh and press the auto button to exit diagnostic mode Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/89303-air-con-blowing-hot-air/#findComment-1615964 Share on other sites
32brother
I've had my car for around a year now and my air con wasn't working when I got it, just needed to get it re gassed but, As of around 4 or 5 months ago, my car has being blowing hot air down to my feet. As with Trevvy it doesn't matter what the settings are or even if the unit is on or off. (I can change the fan but still receive a bit of hot air down at feet) So I have come to terms with just pushing the recirculation button, it drops the temp by about half a degree, but on a 35+ degree day you welcome the little change for a whole 30 seconds.... Any how, I tried the self diagnostic feature 4 times, twice with only the first step (pushing the heat button once) results as follows: first two times: 20. third time: 25. 3, 41, 5. : fourth time: 20. 3, 41, 5. My car has being in the shade for at least 3 hours and I left the doors open for a while, 5 minutes between tests. (I will try again tonight with a cooler ambient temperature, just to see what/if there’s a variation.) So WTF?? Just to complicate things a bit further too, I've had a second after market head unit put in as well, but I have tried wiggling and manipulating the wires around but makes no diff. Any help would be great, Cheers, Jules. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/89303-air-con-blowing-hot-air/#findComment-1998130 Share on other sites
ToF
This happens with my R32 analogue climate control unit sometimes. I don't have a stereo in at that moment so I can just reach to the loom and wiggle it around and it will return back to normal but I have no idea what I will do once i get a stereo in there. : Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/89303-air-con-blowing-hot-air/#findComment-1999609 Share on other sites
32brother
This happens with my R32 analogue climate control unit sometimes. I don't have a stereo in at that moment so I can just reach to the loom and wiggle it around and it will return back to normal but I have no idea what I will do once i get a stereo in there. : Tof, Could you do me a favour, Next time it happens could you play around and try and find which wire it is?? While yours is a analouge, Im sure the loom is the same. Just want to know if it's a particular wire or the loom it's self. On the other side of things it could be any number of particular wire(s) in the loom. I just don't want to pull my head unit again, just yet. I've mucked around with the wires before, but it didn't make a differance. If I know wich one to manipulate at least which one works on yours then I'll give it another crack. YLD-CHLD
there is an electrical plug on the passenger side just above were your feet go ,this is to switch from hot air to ac air ,i had a passenger accidently knock this & had the same problem no a/c, put plug back in & all was good Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/89303-air-con-blowing-hot-air/#findComment-2004694 Share on other sites
ceedub
I've had a simialr problem. In the back of the cavity where the headunit is, is a small actuator that controls a vent for hot/cold air mix. The wiring loom going into this actuator was loose or had a bad connection. By wiggling the wires it would reconnect and get the actuator working again. In your case I think the actuator may have died completely, leaving it in the hot position. firecracker
well, I say, do the diagnostic first, if any sensor showing faulty fix them first.(mostly wires connection with sensor than it self ) and check your fuses and magnet switch. if fuse is keep blowing under dash. you might have dead compressor due to drawing too much current. I had little experiance with my R32 and end up seeing pros at unique auto down at Castle hill. it cost $700 just recondition it because they can't find any alternative for me.
