All About Automotive Paints.

Hey guys,

Well, seeing as how my engine is currently being rebuilt (i.e the engine is out of the engine bay) I think now is the best oppurtunity I will have to respray my car, the proper way (incl. door jams, engine bay, boot, underneath.)

Now I've been researching colours to paint my car and I've decided that I will go with a Purple/Dark Blue that flips into another colour(s)

My question mainly relates to the availibility of these type of paints, so far, I've come across the House of Kolor, Kameleon range, specifically the Purple to Orange colour, only problem is cost, at $1010 per litre, I don't see it feasible.

Other range i've come across is the Standox Exclusive Line, which also has some very nice colours in the range, at more moderate prices, about $450 a litre.

My question is whether anyone knows specific companies that have a Special Effect paints range, such as the HOK and Standox (specifically the colour changing/chameleon paints) available in Australia.

Sorry about the long post, but any help will be appreciated, as I'm nearing the stage where I will be required to buy the paint ASAP.

Back on topic please, I'm still after the names of other companies that supply such paints, opinions aside.

If my records are correct.. dupont were the first to bring out chameleon.

House of Kolor are by far the best quality paints, with the price to match!

I was having a look at a spray job but in the end of the day if you want the quality finish and the look your gonna have to go with HOK.

I say that cos I've seen two VL's side by side with the same pink paint job.. one was using HOK the other was a cheaper paint. You can see the difference.

go with a standox pearl effect colour, same as hok's candy colours and is slightly more affordable, and is no "camelion" they are called "harliquine"
