G'day,

I'm looking to buy a new rb26 package like an N1 motor or nismo motor. I want to get it straight from the Jap factory with the upgraded oil pump/sump. Alternatively if the price becomes an issue I will look at buying a stock rb26 from Nissan.

Has anyone done any of these options before, if so can you let me know of your experiences. I want to get a brand new motor asap,

Thanks for any feedback, KG

I can only think of 2 reasons to use an n1 motor.

1/ You are building a hge engine and want to start with the absolute best

2/ You have to run a standard motor due to race regs so this is the best you can build

theres a bloke here in canberra - greg tarlington Pro Engines. he's got an awesome reputation around canberra thanks to his strong builds. word has it he's going to be doing OS-style spacer plate 3litre rb26 stroker kits. forged/balanced everything etc etc. i'm not entirely sure what money he'd command for a combination like this, but he'd be a good place to start with your 12.5k methinks!

Wonder if that new N1 engine comes with turbos?

Surely you dont expect turbos , plenum and all the bolt ons for $12.5 k Andrew .

You just get the long engine with waterpump as you see in the pic but dont forget its all brand new !

Yes a rebuilt engine can be almost as good as new but most times its not , it depends on who does the machining and who puts it together .

There is no way you can built a 100 hp engine for $ 12.5 , you just cant buy the parts for that ,never nind put it together as well ..

No i didn't, but im suprised even the long motor is that cheap new :(

What about the gearbox in these things? If we're talking about a motor that can go to 650-700HP your already pushing the gearbox a little beyond what it can handle, meaning your gonna need to get a holinger. Why not go up-spec factory?

R34 Getrag's handle 700hp no worries (provided you don't hammer them on gearchanges and do massive launches all the time). However the conversion to a Getrag for an R32 or R33 will set you back around $20,000. (including a custom made Nismo tailshaft which can take 6 months to make)

For a GTR 5 Speed, PAR can do a strengthened gearset for $6100 ready to bolt in. 1 ~ 3 straight cut, 4th, 5th helical cut. Dual synchro's in 3rd and 4th (like the late R33 GTR boxes). The boxes are still easily driveable although you will hear gearbox whine from straight cut gears.

That'd be your best option IMHO to strengthen up your gearbox for big power.

Don't stress, My brand new R33 GTR gearbox from nissan whines!!!
