well i'm not an expert on mechanics or electrics, but i can only put in the following in hope that it might help

seeing as you have spent so much on an engine rebuild and obviously want it to run perfectly.. have you considered buying an entire new wiring loom and replacing your old, worn, broken wires with the new loom? who knows where you might have a broken wire that may be coming loose intermittently..

anyway good luck

Warren.

the question is WHERE do I get this new loom from - I KNOW Nissan will rape me on this

could it maybe be an earthing problem? a lot of jap cars seem to run the earthin kits on GTR's....just a thought?

not sure if this helps but i also had a similar minor miss when i first got my car back from the rebuild. It was very minor before (twice on the dribve back from sydney) the build but very noticable after...maybe once an hour? i found that my knock sensors weren't connected and had the car retuned connected, and with new copper plugs at charlies and the problem seems to have gone? Might be your plugs not being cool enough? ie 6's and not 7's

  • 4 weeks later...

i think its a problem with the power FC

My car ran fine with the stock ecu. Changed to a power fc with no other changes, and i had this 'missfire'. Its not really a missfire, but it sort of is? I have been suggested its a problem with this revision of the pfc. Some of the other guys on here also have it. dont worry about it

already have grounding kit - and new IR plugs - and I have had them cleaned. Not sure on temp rateing tho - will check that

can the PFC code be updated (flashed) ?

anyone tried a warranty claim ?

I have the same problem with a customer GTR but worse, I tryed to find someone to test -repair the PFC but no hope in Australia.

I have changed and tested everything inc wiring harrness-CAS- ignitor-coils -every spark plug you can think of-tested and added earths -etc and the fuel system has been gone right thru.

I fitted a stock ECU and did a Data scan with no faults found.

I feel an ECU is as good as its weakest link and repair-testing is this ECUs weakest link in Australia.

to put another spin on this.... i have had the same problem lately...

I DO NOT have a Power FC (but do have a SAFC2 - had it for 2 years though)

Mine starting doing it a few days after changing the plugs, and cleaning the coils.

It also started doing it the same day I filled up after letting it go down to just 5 litres of petrol in the tank (late for appointment no time to stop and fillup). And this was only 1km after filling up it started, so i suspect dirty fuel or water in the fuel.

I have changed my fuel filter, cleaned all the plugs (ignitor, CAS, AFM) and double checked them to ensure they are secure.

I'll clean my AFM, and recheck all connections to spark plugs and coil packs over the weekend.

Has any1 dealt with dirty fuel, or water in the fuel tank before?

Has any1 tried putting metho in their fuel when they suspected water seeing as water and methylated spirits are miscible?

I will post an update if i have any progress....
