Speedo Signal For Fj

Does the FJ's standard computer have some type of speed signal going to the ECU?

Any help would be great

like from a speed sensor in the gearbox or something you mean? Pretty sure theres nothing from the gearbox.

Guessing it does cause they have a 180km/h speed limiter so the ecu's getting a signal from somewhere

I havn't tried it yet, but i'm pretty sure the speed limiter is in the speedo. Theres a very suspicious looking brass contact in behind the speedo face.

Theres no speed sensors in the box itself.

The speed sensor is in the speedo ,ask stewart wilkins motorsport about it.

My fj20et was running like a dog and no one could fix it,after stewart wilkins spent the morning sussing things out he came to the conclusion that it was the speed sensor malfunctioning.

He played with a few wires going to the ecu and it totally transfomed the car, its never ran better!!!

it just sticks up so bend it out of the way I reckon. I'm going to try it at some point

Works like a contactor or something does it???? Switches on when the speedo needle hits it or something?

Guys when I had the FJT in the Bluebird years ago I had to bridge out two wires close to the ECU to stop it rev cutting early . If anyones interested I could dig the loom out and have a look .

I didn't think fj's had a rev cut? I don't think mine does.. well I've had it to 8k, so its a late one if its there!

i've heard that they don't have rev limiters, never had mine past about 6500k though, didn't want to rev any higher with the standard turbo and im still running lean above 6k with this new turbo setup...

I wanted to see what it'd do.. was still pullin like a train at 8.. but was a bit rattly so i didn't go any further.. and I've since found that the oil pmp isn't happy at those revs. Just gotta find me a high volume pump now!

Its a speed cut, mine doesnt go past 210kmh.Its pretty savage you lose all power until the speed drops a bit,scared the crap outta me when i was racin a new falcon gt a few years back.Only did it once though I dont do 210 everywhere I go.

hahaha mines at 180 and its bang on 180!

the supra I had used to be somewhere between 180 and 200 ish depending on the day and its mood at the time haha
