What's the difference between these two cars?

I read on here: http://www.jpdirect.co.uk/nissan_skyline.htm that the GTT is 206kw, but that site also says the GTR is rwd so it has limited credibility :)

I ask cos http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au have a lot of R34 GTTs for about 25-28K, whereas the GTRs are all about 32K+ If they really are 206kw then I might consider one of them over a R33 GTST for about 17-20K.

And what do you guys think of Prestige as a business? Anyone dealt with them? They seem to have the largest range of Skylines. Where else in Sydney competes? I'm keen on places that already have the cars in stock as opposed to "available to ship".. i want to go up to sydney (from canberra) and have a look at a lot of them at once, then pick. Where else should I go and look at?

Also: I currently drive a Honda Civic. It rattles like a #*()%&$% How do R33 and later Skylines go as far as cabin rattles/bumps/groans etc?

Thanks for any help/suggestions in advance.

run run run

dont go near prestige motorsport if u can possibly help it

Why? and where else then?

There is justjap but they seem to have a very limited range in comparison.

Anyone? Jeez I wish ppl would back up their opinions.

says the GTT has a 206kW engine yet I read from another source (can't remember where) that the R34 GTT has the same engine as the R33GTST. Anyone know what is correct and can point me to where they are getting their info?

rincewind: People are hesitant to criticise any company via a public forum such as SAU. Try PMing Cerbera for his story.

I didn't have a good experience with Prestige but found Geoff to be a generally helpful and friendly guy. As with anything, there are people that would go back and others that wouldn't. I know that doesn't help you very much but it's pretty tough for me to provide unbiased comment. :D

I imported three cars through Prestige.

None had their a/c degassed (which I had paid for) this ended up costing me $375 per car to be degassed and regassed. I was charged $1188 for storage fees on the Port Adelaide docks while the Department of Heritage and Environment argued with my customs agent over this issue.

Two cars had to go to the crash repairer for a total cost of $2000.

Two cars needed a complete set of new tyres (I had enquired about this prior to purchase).

All up each car went $6000 over Geoff's highest estimates to get on the road, putting me $18000 over budget.

Two of the cars are awesome.

I won't use Prestige again.

The GTt and GTR are both 206kw on paper... in reality the GTR usually churns out more power and the 206kw written down is only to satisfy the Japan gentlemans agreement.

GTS25t and GTt both have the RB25DET, but the GTt has Neo (variable timing) and a few other tricks to bring the power up over the R33.

Imported a few cars through Prestige. Geoff was extremely helpful each time, giving his opinion on what would make a good buy for me. Have a search for Prestige Motorsports on SAU and you'll find generally people have had a good experience using their services.

PROS OF PRESTIGE

I bought my car through prestige and they were great. Geoff was helpful throughout the process. It only took about 2 months from purchase until i had the car on the road, which is far less than most people who bought at the same time as me (immediately after the 15yo rule was announced to be changed). Prestige also have access to more auction sites in Japan than any other Australian importer.

CONS OF PRESTIGE

The only criticisms I have is work out the prices yourself from using the Yen price rather than using his estimates, as his prices do not include things like rego, tyres and (on 15+ yo vehicles) ADRing. My GTS-T was stickered $7100 on his website and it cost me about $9500 in the end, but that was okay in my case because I had worked out the price myself and was expecting about $9200 so the shock was minimal. Also, his fees are higher than most, but that is only to be expected given the increased number of vehicles he has exposure to.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS

Because of Prestiges long arms in the Japanese Auction market, I would strongly recommend them if you are looking for a very speciffic but elusive vehicle (something rare). A more common vehicle (such as my own stock white R32 GTS-T) would probably be able to be sourced cheaper elsewhere.

    • Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads
    • Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything
    • Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues
    • Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
