Ok, well as everyone would know, i am going for the manual conversion.

I have decided to go with the r33 GTR gearbox, as Stagezilla, as its supposed to be the correct length to not require a new driveshaft

Sooo, one thing i am doing differently to Stagezilla is that i am going for just a GTST master. At the same time as buying the master, i bought a GTST slave, GTST pedal set (clutch/brake/accel).

Now, i know that the r33 gtst is a PUSH style clutch system, but someone explain to me what i am talking about below.

First, here a picture of a R33 GTR slave on yahoo JP.

And the clutch setup with mock attachment to master

Now, here is what i am experiancing. With this clutch/master (which is pretty generic inc same as GTR) when the clutch is pressed, pressure is built up in the master, therefore causing pressure in the line, and eventually makes the piston at the slave PUSH out. Now, considering i dont know the main difference between PUSH/PULL, the only way that i can see that it could "pull"(as a gtr should/need to go for gearbox) the clutch would be

a) for the little rod to be welded to the piston inside, and then the fluid from the lines to enter the "forward" chamber to "push" the piston back, causing it to pull the clutch

B) the pivot point on the clutch to be BELOW where the master attaches to the clutch, therefore making the master "pull" the pressure into it, casuing the welded little rod to be pulled back. Now, i reckon there would be a lot of strain if it was actually pulling...

soooo... option c is that it just mounts on the other side of the clutch, meaning all i would need is new lines between the master and the slave, which i wanted to get from Maltech anyway....

Sooo, anyone got any ideas...

PS, if you cant tell, im new to this PUSH/PULL thing

At the moment, the only thing holding me going ahead is waiting on my gearbox to arrive, powerFC and also sorting out this push/pull thing, otherwise, ill be finished within 1-2 months.

Give Mercury Motorsports a ring, they should be able to help you out as they did most of the work on my stagea manual convert before I purchased it. Ask for Trent on 1300 558 650.

But the box that went into mine was out of a r32 gtr, so it's prolly all different, but they still should be able to help you out.

nah its easy from a slave cylinder point of view the only difference between push and pull is the side of the clutch fork that at pushes on....ie in one it faces forward and the other it points backwards

Well we fitted a 33 GTR box and had to reverse the slave cylinder to fit it properly.

But the 33 GTR box actually had the points to mount the slave cylinder backwards already cast into the housing, all we had to do was tap holes for the bolts.

If you have a pic of the housing I can point it out for you

i will, just wanted to be sure that i can mount the slave that i have. This is because on Nengun, they differentiate between the PULL and PUSH slaves, so i thought there could be something different.

After i posted, i thought about it a bit more, and i should be sweet :D

One step closer

Ill be getting an ATESSA controller soon too :D

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?
    • Your car was auto before? You have different diff ratio (auto vs manual i think? or n/a and turbo?)
    • +1 for getting a screen off alibaba, CarPlay/Android Auto is vastly better than whatever navigation cars had 10 years ago. I got an Android screen for my 2015 BMW, huge difference. Fully compatible with factory stuff including iDrive controls.
