How come all the dynos differ in price so much?

All I want is to set the boost using the dyno, adjust the timing and then to give me a readout.

I've had prices ranging from $50 to $130 odd (per hour).

Where is a good one to go to?

Also, do I have to use a 4WD dyno or can I put the car in RWD mode? It won't affect anything if I use RWD mode will it?

Cheers.

I guess like with all different quality of services you pay more in some and lessin others.... I use PSI performances dyno and so do MANY other high performance tuners.

I heard a rumour on the weekend and i dunno how true it is so i aint gunna stand by it but i did here that with the 32 GTR's instead of pulling out fuse or wire apparently when you 1st start ignition it's 4wd then if you turn it off then turn back on again it goes into RWD if this is true?? could it work for the 32 GTS4

I will always tend to use the same person over and over, aslong as they do the right thing by me then I will support there business.

To do a power-run should only cost about $70 per hour, it requires some playing around and minor adjustments, but if your not after tuning then it shouldn't cost you too much.

I use Steve at SST, he build race cars and has a number of clients with fast cars including 11sec Skylines, Evos and has a 8sec SR20DET powered rail.

I use Ivan at APA (ex Speedworks), he's recently got his dyno and it has some serious amount of accuracy and repeatability. I get full lambda graph printouts etc, AFR... all that crap ;)

And no wheelspin, you bolt the car up to the hubs!

I think the dyno is out at JRT in bentley at the moment for anyone who wants to enquire. I think the price is around the $60-70 mark. I've been getting mates rates so im not sure exactly :)

Seriously, If you go to a place to tune your car and they don't know how to disable the 4WD then get the hell out, they obviously don't know what they are doing. Anyone charging $130 per hour for a power-run is a rip off, as you can see there are many good dyno's around which we all will be more than happy to go back to. the important thing is once you find one you like then stick to it, that way you can tell the affects any mods have to you power in relation to that one dyno.

If you can ever get him to answer the phone.

Seriously , I know he is a good operator and I knew him when he worked for Darryl Penley ( ATS )and that was probably before most of you guys were alive but is that any way to run a business ?

Gtrken and Strichnine,

I understand where your coming from, but when the other tuning shops don't know what to do with a car they send it to Barrie, everyone knows he is the best, it's just that you have to deal with all the other crap. He works by himself, and doesn't answer phones etc, so if you want it done in a hurry then your better off elsewhere, if you need something fixed which no-one else can do then he's your man.
