i put a just jap bellmouth front pipe on recently and it bolted up perfect. lined up to standard cat position without any modding. this was on an RS4s

D.

how much heat comes through to under your passenger seat now if you removed a heatsheild? as i have amps underthere and JJ haven't gotten back to me about wether any standard sheilds fit(or top half if its clamshell)

i finally bit the bullet and got a custom mandrel bent 3inch on my s2 auto... it's flippin awesome but 1st - 2nd it hits the rev limiter twice and the gear change completes at about 100... has anyone had similar problems or is it time to work on the box?

the turbo is running in high boost mode with the shorted solenoid

Theres not much talk about mufflers being used and how they go with drown. I have a RS4S with a standed dump, cat with a 3inch SS to 1 muffler from hi-tech mufflers (not a canon) and it sounds great but i just cant settle with the drowning. Im thinking of putting a hotdog in there and see what difference it makes.

+ if your warried about the heat shield on a different dump why dont you heat wrap it???

Im using a justjap 3" bellmouth dump/front pipe into a 3" gutted metal cat, bolted onto 3" catback into 3" magnaflow resonator (hotdog) into 3" straight through kakimoto 'gtr racing' muffler

only drone noticeable is at around 1800rpm

free flowing enough for 250kw@wheels - rs4 auto

Some cool info on here!

I've got a S1 Dayz eddition that came with the optional Nismo exhaust, just curious if anyone knows what the pipe diameter of the Nismo units are, I could probably take it off and measure it up but that requires some effort :nyaanyaa:

Just thinking whether it's worth replacing if it's 2.5 inch or something, or just making up some blast pipes for track/drift days.

Anyone know if it's a full system, catback, or axle back only?

Edit: Shit sorry, I thought this was an exhaust thread ... maybe we should make a sticky with something like "What exhaust are you running".

My S2 came with the Nismo exhaust, from what I was told it's a 2 1/2 inch cat back. I assume the one on the S1 is the same. I thought about just replacing the cat and dump/front pipes to make it 2 1/2 inch all the way, but after doing some reading and asking around ended up making it 3 inch all the way through and love it!

ohk cool! Thanks for that.

So what made you make the switch, what are you running now and did you notice any power improvements from the Nismo item? (I suppose you would considering you swapped the dump pipe and such).

I had initially planned on getting the front of the system through to the cat in 3 inch, and then having in joing out of the cat back down to the existing 2 1/2 inch exhaust, but after doing a bit of reading on here and talking to my tuner, I decided to go 3 inch all the way. What I was told was that it would be too restrictive having it 2 1/2 inch and I was better off having 3 inch all the way to get the best performance. I am running a HKS Hi Power cat back, but I am not sure exactly what brand hi-flow cat or dump pipe, but I'm assuming they are X-Force or something along those lines. Something decent quality without being a major brand. As far as power improvements, I did a Nistune chip, fuel pump and boost controller at the same time, so it's a bit hard to tell exactly how much difference the exhaust itself made, but with that combination and no other mods apart from a HKS pod filter, I am getting 204kw at the wheels on 10psi.

Hope that helps

How loud is that Tim? I might even make something up myself where I can use the Nismo rear muffler for street, and blast pipes for the track.

It is a lot quieter than I expected. I actually noticed very little difference in car, and even outside the car it is not that loud. I think I hear my pod filter more than my exhaust lol

Just remember a oval muffler is always going to be much more quiet than a cannon. they're notorious for noise. not to mention drone.

my setup on my gtr. std dumps, jjr down pipes. xforce cat, custom catback with xforce oval muffler with titanium tip. very quiet on idle. zero to no drone.

bumping old topic but didn't want to start another one,

looking for an cat back exhaust fro my stag, can anyone confirm skyline exhausts fit and if its just a case of changing the hangers or if its shorter?

this seems to be the same shape, its off a r32 gtr.

cheers

I just had a cat back exhaust off a 4 door r32 fitted to my s2 stagea. Needed a few cuts to rotate it slightly, a section added before the rear axle to lengthen it and the hangars moved. It was Mild 3" and had no center muffler, just a varex on the end, so it was easy to modify, only cost be $100 to get fitted. Sounds great too :)

    • Ok glad you clarified on the frenchy’s options , I was worried about if my oem hoses would fit the new compressor or not if I just bought the bracket/compressor kit ,  didn’t realize they also sold a larger full conversion kit. Hmm may just go oem in that case then to make it easy only because I plan to sell this car to upgrade to a 32 GTR or 34 GTT.
    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
