MrMayhem
Hey nismogts-x Calm down and listen Your two photos sho Fa of teh head just of teh top of two very different manifolds NICs 12 dual intake runners and the HR31 Eccs 6 runners but both go into the same butterfly plates into the same 12 port head. take the manifolds of either of those engines and your still going to get this http://www.users.bigpond.com/maytech/skyli...b20eccshead.jpg I know Ive dont many times. Works Auto knows it too also having a HR31 Eccs 12 port head and his friend with a VL whos head been off twice another hr31 eccs 12 port head. As in we have done this ourselves we are not net parroting, we are not spreading hearsay, we are not quoting for somebody else who has done teh work.... 1st hand account Ego aside HR31 is 12 port either NICs or ECCS If we keep it one brief post at a time we can get through this and Im sure we'll all learn something Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9021-rb20det-31-or-32/page/2/#findComment-138156 Share on other sites

This picture even though it has a ECCS manifold , has a 12 port head, between the runners and the head , there is a small 40mm spacer which has the vacuum operated flaps. It is a 12 prt head. Dont try and argue because we have had about 3 of these motors apart. How about you take the motor apart in the pic and see what i mean. Guest Works Auto
I think nismo GTX gets confused with the head and a manifold, they are 2 different things. I am talking about the intake manifold.... You are the one that is confused about head/intake Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9021-rb20det-31-or-32/page/2/#findComment-139330 Share on other sites
MrMayhem
Then what did you mean when you said "There is a big difference between the NICS & ECCS heads on the red top RB20det...." Guest nismogtsx
Ok.... Its gotten a bit out of hand... There are a few confused people... Ill save a long story and say what i was aiming to say... Options: 1. R32 RB20det - Great bang for ya buck, heaps of cheap mods aviable, heaps of parts 2. R31 RB20det ECCS - Great bang for ya buck, hard to find parts sometimes, very touchy, not as reliable as 32 motor 3. R31 RB20det NICS - Extreamlly good top end performance motor, expensive to mod to the level where it passes the 32 motor, however its chea to begin with.... mods endless, very solid block and good internals.... MrMayhem
so you found out both 31 heads are the same?? and now choose to save face by brushng the issue of and suggesting that we are confused by your own statements? what exactly did you mean when you said this? "There is a big difference between the NICS & ECCS heads on the red top RB20det...." Roy
as its also a cast iron block (however is 60kgs heavier than and R32 motor) I thought all RBs whether 20/25/26/30 all had cast iron blocks, and alloy heads. I cant see a 60kg weight difference between ECCS & NICS. That is A LOT of extra metal. What does an ECCS RB weigh, approx 140kgs???, then NICS must weigh 200kg, thats Holden 308 territory. That cant be right. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9021-rb20det-31-or-32/page/2/#findComment-139781 Share on other sites
darkhalf
The r32 computer can be remapped whereas the r31 motor cant. r31s rb20 eccs mapped no probs (i think also including nics) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/9021-rb20det-31-or-32/page/2/#findComment-180572 Share on other sites
