I was just thinking that I don't really have any nice pics of my car (other than a few I got from WSID), so I thought I might clean it up tomorrow and go somewhere to take some nice shots...

Anyone know of some good locations to take some car photos around Sydney?

Doesn't have to be anything fancy...

I was actually thinking of doing some late arvo shots, using a factory or warehouse as a back drop (for the industrial look), but I know there's more than a few budding photographers out there, so I'm also interested in any other ideas...

the rocks.. all cars under the big bridge all in a staggered formation (you'll be blocking traffic but it doesnt get too busy late at night)

im not sure if this was taken at the rocks or whos cars they are but it looks like the rocks, it would be an awesome shot with 20+ cars.

The best shot I've seen has been in Pitt Street Mall. Can't find the photo now, but its from the southern entrance. Technically that spot is an access area to the Centrepoint carpark, but you'd be hard pressed driving your car through there during the day.

But underground carparks are good. So are narrow alleys in the city. Under the bridge (on either side of the harbour) can also get you some good shots.

Yep sl!m I use to do Homebush all the time. I hate it now. Everyone's doing it, and IMO 'lines look better on flat ground. There's not much perfectly flat ground in Homebush. It all undulates a little.

The first time I shot there was in 2001. Then next was some of the whore cars this year. I wasn't happy with the shots :D.

Not really keen on Homebush for the same reason that Wilch mentioned...everyone does it. In saying that, I have seen some very good pics taken around there.

I do like the sound of the freight forwarding yards (if I can get somewhere near them), as that would be a pretty cool backdrop. Actually it kinda reminds me of some of the pics you see from the Jap auctions...

Also like the sound of a narrow alley, but where the hell would you find one of those that isn't being used during the day!

And, where can you take pics around Tom Ugly's bridge? I've driven over it a few times in recent years, but never paid much attention to whats around it (it's not really in my area)...

Hopefully the weather holds up - gonna go wash and polish after lunch :P

As you head over the bridge southbound, you take the first left turn, and a few more turns, and you can in between the two bridges under them... you can put the car on the boat ramp and it looks really nice, as the lights from the bridges reflect off the water etc etc so it's pretty cool :)

I don't mind Homebush but I agree i've been shooting there for years and it's got very repetitive (however on paid shoots i've had a lot of people request to get their photos done at homebush, so although i'm sick of it i'll do whatever is required :P) As far as i'm concerned the best spot of my car was still taken there (see avatar)

I think pretty much any spot can make a car look nice - for skylines I defintely prefer night shots as it makes them look a little more evil, although night shots normally take a little more time and practise from a photographer.

Don't shoot during the day. :D

Narrow alleys tend to only be in built up areas, so you won't find too many during the day that don't have a fair amount of throughput. Unless you can get your camera etc set up quickly and reel off your shots, you'll be holding up traffic. :O
