Gday.

i havnt posted here much at all

but i just got my R31 goin with a silvertop RB20DET in it,

my car is a white S3 R31 skyline, with no side strips and missing rear garnish, so if you see me give me a wave :P

i have a few Qs, my car doesnt have a full exhaust (finishes at the frount of the cat) and my car idles alittle low, and if i give it a rev and back off it nearly stalls, the picks up a little, any way i can fix this? or is it doin it due to lack of exhaust?

also whats standard boost on a RB20? mine boosts at about 10psi was just wondering if this was normal?

cheers for any help :D

also phat MR30 are you interested in buying a R30 skyline sedan? i have one here that i need to get rid of, it only good for parts or a bushbasher, cant be registered with out alot of hassle, only runs on 5cyl, body is pretty good for a car of its age, has been resprayed blue (from green) and has started to fade, its 100% origional, just missing sterio knobs, spare tyre, jack and horn button, also has smashed windscreen and rear 1/4 window, im askin $150 for it if your keen?

cheers

My redtop RB20DET did something that seems similar, dies if you are hard on the throttle then snap off the throttle and onto the clutch....Never figured out what it was. search around on here, there is a thread about something similar, people were talking about a dirty earth from the ecu or some such thing causing it.

just took it for another ride, and the problem is back :) so im gonna put the standard plumb back BOV on and see if it gets better, if it doesnt i will look at an earthing problem, or vacume leak

cheers for the help guys :D

-Jake

Change back to your stock BOV or get a plumb back option with an aftermarket one and your problem will dissappear.

TimmyB had a similar problem with his Rb20 when he took the return pipe off his stock BOV with the rough idle as it upsets the A/F ratios with the stock AFM.

Generally if its a earthing problem (ECU especially) then it will cause other problems as well and most of the time when its happened to cars i know they wont start or run let alone drive just with a miss.

Hope ya sort it out soon :P

Cheers B
