Details as follows:

The car is a 1973 Datsun 1200 Coupe, white.

It's out of rego and has no plates on it. It's been yellow tagged by the council, who'll come and tow it at the start of next week. I'd much rather it go to someone in the Dato community who can give it a new lease on life.

Has a reconditioned engine that's about 8 years old. Which has had a pretty easy life as it's been in the inner city for the last 6 years. It runs, but the battery is flat. Wouldn't put it on the road without work on the brakes at least. 1200 engine, 4 speed gearbox. No special mods have been done to it. Never been in a crash, and with the exception of 1 cooked engine it's been very reliable.

It can be picked up from Canning st near Kay st Carlton anytime after 6pm tonight. Car will be unlocked and keys in the ignition I won't be around for the weekend, and will be happy if it's "gone to a better place" when I get back. :D

I'll need to retrieve a few things from out of it after I get home from work tonight, so no pickup before then.

Anyone who needs more info call me via "NUMBER REMOVED" and I will do my best to answer any queries otherwise just come and take the darned thing :)

Dale

FWIW this was my friends car not mine - so I know stuff all about it :(

Never been on DATNET and dont have 168 hours to post pictures and to troll the net just to try give my mates car away!!!

I believe Juls has now picked it up and I'm sure he'll look after it, cheers mate enjoy tweaking it!

Simple Version: "Free Car" take it or leave it!!!

Dale :P

appropriate documentation will be sorted out in due course with the RELEVANT parties involved - its my mates car he is not going to report it stolen, way too many time wasters on this site :sigh:

have a cry mate. read my post, i asked if doing this was illegal....because its basically stealing a car if someone just comes and picks up a car with the keys in the ignition...regardless of wether the owner wanted it or not, the car is still technically not the persons who just picks it up

lol, isnt this like stealing a car?

no paper work to transfer n shit like that?

i might be wrong...just asking

Hi Guys,

Dato's previous car owner here.

I don't see there being any issues in regards to ownership. I've owned the car outright for the last 8-9 years and the old rego plates have been handed back to Vicroads for destruction (been out of registration and off the road for about a year).

If Juls wants to PM me I'm happy to exchange numbers etc and fill in any history/old rego details etc.

Thanks to Dale for helping me out on short notice in getting the mesage up on these forums.

Michael.
