I'm not sure if this is old news? But if the new S2000R comes to OZ as is look out!

Powered by a 3.0L inline NA 6 - 360hp (~270kw)

weighing in @ ~2400lbs (under 1100kg!) ='s 12.8 @ 111.7mph stock

Check it out - http://www.automotivearticles.com/get.php?...le&articleid=52 Edit: - For those that can't be stuffed reading go to the bottom of the article for the performance stat's.

Edit - THE ARTICLE IS A FAKE! To the best of my knowledge the S2000R 3.0L 6 doesn't exsist.

S2000's are heaps of fun - and you've gotta love that VTEC snarl.

If I was in the market for a $120k ragtop - I'd go there instead of a Euro.

I have a soft spot for Hondas - and besides, Porsches are too tossy.

Hmmm..... I just noticed that too!? Pretty impressive hoax if it is a load of crap?

Edit - Just did a quick check on a few Honda sites & no mention of the S2000R, it's BS.

Yeah there's no such thing, they're supposed to be releasing an S2200, but it'll be a hard top, thus the 2.2 litre engine for the extra weight.

They're a wicked car though, just over priced, but honda's do hold their value very well, still see 10 year old preludes going for $20,000+

Stupid cause Japs have a gentlemans agreement to 208kw
This agreement will be broken this year from what I understand. I believe the first car that will break it is Subaru's Impreza WRX S202 which is something like 220kw..... I'm not sure if STI is exempt from it as they are SORT OF an aftermarket tuner...

But yeh sounds like bullshit ... theres no talk around Japan of a 3ltr S2000.. hmmm

its about time, i hate that stupid gentlemens' law. (in the states its like 275-280hp)

anyway that article is a very old hoax. if it were even remotely true it would be called the S3000 since it always follows the displacement of the engine. (like the s600, s800, etc) just some kid dreaming :(

peace

Yep.S2000s are fun.I have an update model in Blue with black leather. They really do need a turbo though. The mid range torque

is just not there, so you really have to drive the car up in the revs all the time on VTEC to get the best out of it.Great car if you are not used to big power, but I have 2 GTRs(one 272rwkw -1650kg &

one 500rwkw - 1270kg) so the Honda(while great with the roof down & all) does seem a bit lacking in the grunt dept.

I am actually selling the car at the moment(only 2700kms) for around $72,000($80,000 new) & buying a yellow EVO VII.(130km)

The EVO doesn't have the class of the Honda to look at, but driving pleasure is what it's all about, & once a turbo man - always a turbo man.The EVO I'm referring to is the actual car in the HPI 25 issue(gold top secret GTR on cover)

I will always have fond memories of the Honda S2000 though - anyone looking for a near new one?

No.It's the yellow one in the article with the white one(HPI 25)

Mark Hocking (the guy that bought in that new white R34 N1 GTR

for Peter Moore - Wheels Apr 02 cover) bought the EVO7 new in

Japan over 12 months ago.He has just brought it in to Aust as a private import & according to him there are only 3 EVO 7s in Aust.

It only has 130km on it, has an upgraded CPU(310hp),Carbon fibre bonnet, & a new HKS exhaust system(not fitted yet).

I looked at the 'new' EVO 6.5s still in the showroom here in Adelaide, but decided that the 7 looks much better,is stiffer, has an active centre diff,a better dash layout, better torque & is more exclusive(3 7s in Aust vs 100 Aust delivered 6.5s)

Of course I cant drop the roof like in the Honda, but it has a much

bigger boot & It can take 3 passengers, so for me it will be much more practical considering my other cars are 2 doors or utes.
