gday peeps!

up for sale is some gear i've recently upgraded. for a bit of background, home hi-fi is what i do for a living, so rest assured this is all very VERY well looked-after gear. i'll be sad to see this gear gone because it brought me so much enjoyment and formed parts of my system for a long time. anyway.... the bits are:

musical fidelity X-A1 integrated 2ch stereo amp.

this component was the first integrated amplifier musical fideliy released in the "x" range of components. i bought this unit brand NEW.

50watts per channel into 8R full bandwidth both channels driven 100% duty cycle

<0.007% thd @ 1khz, <0.03% thd 20-20 unweighted and <0.003% thd 'a' weighted

230 x 110 x 315

true class-a operation

external power supply unit.

this is a sweet amplifier. let me say that again. SWEET. i used it to drive my dynaudio contour bookshelfes (83db/1w/1m) and it drove them amazingly! very gutsy little amplifier. because of its mode of operation being class A, it runs quite warm (not at all a problem...) and damn does it sound good!

i have only just decided to sell this unit. i love it to bits. it was the best amplifier i listened to under $2000 back in 2003 and will give ANY amp you care to name around that price point some stiff competition. it was a bargain when i bought it and if it weren't for my desire to mod my car, i wouldn't be selling. unit is in EXCELLENT condition.

it comes with box w/ full packaging, all paperwork, and power supply. retail was $1699 in its day.

Sell $900 ONO

sony cdp-x7esd

what can i say about this cd player. if i don't get decent money for it, i'll keep it. THIS cd player should be all the demonstration you need of how sony used to be. typical ES all japanese manufacture. it weighs 17KG!!!!!

i've put this in blind abx tests alongside the shanling sacd, denon's range, nad, marantz, linn, rotel, redgum... and a stack of others (at my old place of employment) and i felt that it blew them all into the weeds, particularly with its authority in the lower octaves. simply phenomenal!!!!

dual 18bit dacs with 384khz upscaling. yes you read right a 1992-design that upscales to 384khz!!!!!!!

separate power supllies for digital and analogue circuits.

copper chassis

full remote functionality

balanced/unbalanced/optical/coax outputs

one of the most impressive transports i've ever experienced (INCREDIBLY STABLE!)

i have absolutely no idea what it was worth in its day (A LOT!!!) but i know that i paid $800 for it, had a brand new laser put in it and the unit fully serviced with a mate at a sony service centre ($370). its in excellent condition (esp. considering its age!) i don't have the original wood side pannels, but they look cheap anyway :) comes with manuals and information booklets (i lost the review!!! :P:) ) remote and all usual bits and pieces. no box but will be shipped in ultra good packaging.

Sell $700

sony mds-ja3es

awesome minidisc deck. got 5star reviews left right and centre in its day. this unit was purchased by a friend for his studio back in 1998 and it saw about 200hours max before i picked it up from him. its in awesome condition.

optical/coax/unbalanced rca inputs and outputs

frame and beam chassis

sampling rate converter

20bit atrac adc/dacs

the stereophile magazine review benchtested it and found that when they recorded directly from DAT or CD the frequency response was identical - way beyond their sophisticated measurement equipment could measure anyway. very impressive unit.

retail was $2299 or $2499 (can't remember)

Sell $500 ONO
