I've been trying to have my climate control fixed in my skyline for some time without much success - auto electricians have been unsuccessful in fixing the problem (system won't switch to cold air).

Does anyone know of any workshops that have extensive knowledge of the climate control system in the R32?

it happens for me too!!! in fact, quite a few people I have spoken with 32's have this problem.. I thought that it was because the intake for these (at least I think these are the intakes) are underneath the windscreen wipers which is sorta kinda underneath the bonnet... my theory for the hot air was that air that was going over the engine was getting sucked through the intake...

what does the plug look like?.. I pulled out the ashtray and noticed a plug and didn't know what it was for. Does it connect to the back of the climate control unit? And why would it have been unplugged in the first place? Degassing maybe?

Does hot air continously pump out??

If so I had the same problem and you will find that there is a small switch behind the head unit/ash tray that has been disconnected.  If this is disconnected you will get nothing but hot air pumping out.

Thanks for the advice - I'll take it apart tonight or tomorrow. Can you give a little more detail on what the switch looks like?

I've been having similar problems where it either pumps out hot or cold air.

I've pulled out the head unit and found that if I "jiggle" the wiring looms the air will go from hot to cold or vice versa.

Looking further I found that there is an actuator right at the back with a wiring loom going into it. (it controls the amount of hot/cold air) This seems to be the problem as it seems to have a loose connection (when I jiggle it switches hot/cold air)

Haven't had the chance to pull it out yet. Ley me know if this is the same prob you're having.

well I opened up my console and there are 4 or 5 plugs that aren't connected to anything.. my actuator also seems to be dissconnected..

I found that as a temporary fix, just drive around with recirculated air .. the little button on the bottom right of the unit that has an arrow doing a U turn.. this should close of the air from the outside, and just recirculate the hot air..
