so as long as the seats are ADR approved then they are legal??

...<snip>

As I said before, the rails have to be approved too. No good having an ADR approved seats if the rails they're bolted to won't hold up in a crash, that would probably do as much damage as having a dud seat.

I know JustJap's latest range of seats they're bringing in have undergone testing and have ADR approval. This was raised on a thread in NS, Steve initially showed the certificate then removed it for competition reasons. But he was willing to provide the ADR approval number on request.

okay thanks. this has been a grey area for me for ever.

so wht do you need to do to get the rails approved?? get them engineered?? is it expensive to get engineered?

are there any ADR approved Fixed buckets? since they are legal in a coupe whent he rear seats are removed..

oh and am interested in the link to the site!

hahah actually I wrote a post about this but can't see it in the thread....so either teh interweb let me down or there is a wierd post in some other thread lol

Anyway....you can't have fixed back seats in a 2 door 4 seat car.

Fixed backs are OK for 2 seat 2 door or 4 seat 4 door cars.

And finally the only way I know of to get legal rails in a skyline is to have them engineered. The recaro and sparco ones need modification to fit so they would no longer be legal without engineering. And AFAIK the bride rails are bolt in but not ADR approved so they would need engineering too.

I don't want to encourage law breaking, and it is super important to have strong safe rails, but frankly the rails under a seat are pretty unlikely to get spotted by a cop as illegal
