yeah pilot sports are the ones i got

don't know much about the difference of used and new tyres... well aside of the tread wear and obviously if theres damage on them, but other then that i think it would be the same grip etc.?

Yeah thats what I thought but then I remember someone bring up on the forums that after a long time in storage the compound can go hard. With second hand tyres you just don't know how long they've been sitting there until you're driving on them. I think the used PZero's I got must've been sitting there long but who knows?

The pilot sport were first choice but nobody can get them in the size I wanted.

that is true.

it can happen to any tyre even on the car, with age sometimes they just go hard and slippery. My old yokohamas(came on the car) had no grip at all, whereas with my power even cheap tyres should have had better grip. they had gone hard and very slippery.

with used tyres the chance is higher, plus they may be damaged and you wont know until something goes wrong. also may have been fried by previous owner when new, and gone off.

that said, if i was feeling really tight, i would buy second hand to get me by but not for long, and i would be scared to push it!

Frankly I don't compromise when it comes to tyres. It's the only part of the car that comes in contact with the tarmac. Have all the suspension/turbo/brakes/flashy bits you want, but add cheap rubber in there and it all comes to nothing.

Excellent and VERY RELEVANT comment!!!

Everyone should at least make the effort to find the best tyres they can afford.

I think the RTA and other associated bodies should really try and get this into people's heads. Very few people realise how much bearing they have on how your car will perform in a critical situation.
