R31Nismoid, I know as far as posts are concerned I'm a newbie and to you and your network of friends here I may be out of line in saying this but here goes.

I think your previous comment is not warranted. I may be misinterpreting the demeanor of your comment but to someone like me I find it pretty rude (even though its not directed to me).

It wasnt directed at you, if it was i;d have posted as such :P

Everytime a thread about any workshop thread comes up there are the usual suspects that immeditately get in on it and say "my mates mate"

Its happened before and as you are new to the forum you've missed the point of the post.

Enough is enough. Whether it be ICE, Chasers, the old BMT, protek, amberly, whoever.

The "my mates mate" card gets a bit boring after a while, same as the usual people "i wouldnt take my car there"

I mean, really, people should get over it. As i said, every workshop has its horror story... and depending on what side of the fence there will always be a different version of that story.

It also doesnt detract from the point that you are not allowed to bag workshops on these forums.

Its a forum rule, plain and simple.

cheers.

I think people should just post comments ONLY if its first hand through them.

I cant comment on ICE's work, but i called them once to install & tune a microtech and the chap on the fone was very enthusiastic and willing to answer any questions and gimme advice where possible. Unlike some workshops who dont even want to be on the fone with ya.

Its not much but its 1st hand!!

All the best!

Yea, fair enough.

I'm actually not new to the forum I joined in 2003. It’s just that I have only accrued 235 posts nothing compared to your 6,556. But that doesn’t mean that I seldom visit this forum, I am on here everyday. I only post if I have something worth saying (R31Nismoid I am not by any means saying your posts have been useless).

R31Nismoid, I don't think I have missed the point of the post. MerlinTheHapyPig just posted his opinion and I believe that renegadeMR2 asked for people’s opinion.

Yes, but what happens if work shop XXXX has not yet cleaned up its act? But a valid point made just the same R31Nismoid.

Just a question to clear up some ambiguity regarding the forum rules. If for example I had a problem with work shop XXXX and I posted my negative experience will I be in breach of forum rules?

Maybe I was out of line by making my previous post as it was none of my business. So I'll just edit it, shut my mouth and carry on reading posts instead of making them.

I have dealt with ICE and have had no problems.

I have heard all the stories i.e. theyre not mechanics and blah blah but if they do a good job who cares??

Better that taking it to a guy who has all the right certificates and fu$ks your car isnt it??

It's all about what YOU get out of it at the end of the day.

Yea, fair enough.

You've definately missing some of the more interesting threads then, and who have posted in them, most of the time they end up in the mod setcion anyhow within as many hours.

I generally remember who posts what where i can, you have too.

Yes, it would be a breach. As all past threads been treated the same. Thats labelled as business slandering, if you dont name a workshop, different.

Unfortunately here on SAU we cant allow you to sit here and say "Bob jones's pizza shop is a pile of sh|t, thier toppings are 5 days old and full of salmonella"

You just cant do it.

Whilst this is an forum, it does not keep the owner of the forum free from liabilty arising from posts made on here. In the interests of no-hassle im sure you see where this comes from.

There is always 2 sides to every story. Last thing SAU wants is to be in the middle of a sh|t fight

There is a such topic in FI at the moment which is very much sitting on the border of this to give you an idea of what is on the limit.

If you wish to discuss further please send me a PM

For the record,Bob Jones Pizza shop rocks and only uses the best ingredients.

for every bad expierence you have youll tell 20 people it was crap

for every good experience you have youll tell 2 people it was great

very true.

this thread is starting to make an interesting point though, if we are not able to discuss bad experiences where does it leave us?

especially people new to the world of tuning (which we all were at some stage) who have no idea. they are generally encouraged to search out info on here, and if all they can find is positive comments about everyone, and no problems that have been encountered, what are they going to think?

i think that a lot of dissatisfaction arises due to bad communication between customer and tuner, and would be the first to say that ALL problems should be sorted out between the 2 parties rather than bitching on a forum, but surely there has to be some level of discussion...?

for the record, i have had some work done at ice and was very pleased with the results.

Tooooo many of these "i luv XXXXX" or "XXXXX is the best". Delete this thread and pm the thread starter to do a search or point them in the right direction.

My opinion, i will only take my car to 2 w/shops: The one i have been using for the past 5yrs, "EAS Performance" and "Racepace" which i have never used but have only heard and seen top work come out of.

Imagine one day when some retard comes on the forums and post something up and then sau gets sued for something... and thats the end of the forums ??

I think thats why were not sposed to say bad stuff.....

we dont get the forums sued, and they continue to provide us with access to them...

it sounds pretty fair if you ask me

    • Hi. A little bit of an update. It maybe(hope not) looks like i would need a new tranny(it would be "maybe" a cheaper or better option anyway) So i need some info. I know i need a different propshaft(i can make custom one) LSD is not a problem cuz the engine will be still(for now) N/A RB20. So if i buy RB25DET NEO tranny...is there something else i need? I read something about push/pull type but i do not know if i need to "change" something or i can just plug n play onto my engine a go? Thanks for the advice
    • Good morning all, Bit of a random question but figured I’d finally throw it out after wondering for a long while. Before I start, I'm hoping to do this purely out of personal preference. I think it would look better at night, and don't mind at all spending a few hours and dollars to get it done. I've copied this from a non-Skyline specific forum, so I apologize for the explanation of our headlight switch setup that we all know. Here we go: Zero lights (switch off) Parking lights (switch position 1) being a rectangular marker on the outside of the housing, my low beam being the projector in the centre (position 2), and a high beam triggered by my turn signal stalk. Most North American cars I’ve owned of this era have power to the amber corner (turning indicator) light as part of the first switch (parking lights). I’d love to have these amber corners receive power when the headlights and parking lights are on (headlight switch), yet still blink when using the turn signal which is of course a separate switch. Hopefully I’ve explained my question correctly. Is anyone aware of a way in which I might be able to achieve this? Thanks in advance
    • My heads are cathedral port! It's likely possible, but I don't want to add any extra moving parts (I know they don't move) between the heads, manifolds, etc. It will also affect how injectors/fuel rails etc sit and I don't really know if it would change how the FAST manifold goes/sits/fits. I have the LS6 steam pipes already as I have a very late LS1 block so it should be fine. I couldn't find anyone who had ever actually used one for this purpose, it seems 100% of people grind the water pump. The thermal spacers are 12mm and are half way to the cost of the newer water pump anyhow... so if it comes to that I suppose I'd rather buy a new pump. The bearing in the pump I do have is a little.. clunky, but it hasn't done that much time and I never noticed it when the car was together in the past few years, so..
    • The bushing has failed, not all that uncommon for a car of this age.  Any mechanic should be able to push in a new bushing for you, or you can probably buy the entire lower control arm, complete with bushes.
    • Could you not use "thermal" spacers to give the clearance, like the ones I used between the blower and head? That raised the manifold height by around 10-15mm Albeit the ones I used were for cathedral ports, but I assume they have similar for rectangular ports????
