Nah, 13 is not too bad, at higher revs you want it to lean off a bit, that is were you can make some real power gains, too lean and bang. 12.0-12.8 is usually about right, and quite safe. Too lean is bad for all engines, not just R32 GTS.

See'ya:burnout:

old trick i have never done it...but heard about it...couldnt be took good but when travelling along kill the ignition and keep foot to floor then start car again. maybe it is just for carbie motors..but meant to send to 20foot flame and loud bang out the back. :-D

alternatively the new apexi PFC has misfire system, (anti-lagg) so u can set it up to burn excess fuel in the turbos and it apparently shoots flames out the exhaust..even with a cat?

mine pops and crackles like a bowl of rice bubbles. I love it, only had flames twice(i still run cats) from my exhaust. What we've done though is richen up my top end and a bit under trailing throttle to preserve engine on speed runs(depending on tempt its a safe guard of it leaning out to much).

The pops can be heard on my launching videos on my website when i lift off gives a bit pop pop crackle pop. :)

Got car booked in today to get a leak fixed(at the flange after extractors/before cats) and a balance pipe put in(deeper note hopefully) but also to get a cat replacement pipe made up for track days. No-one has wanted to make me up a set of screamer pipes yet ;)

I'd love a set, straight off the extractors exiting out the sides.. My old auto ute used to run hi flow cats(proper 1's with enlarged entries/exits etc and not a gutted cat) and it was loud as hell.. popped and crackled a bit(hadnt fiddled with ecu at time) but also droned alot less in cabin due to the cat not causing restriction.

Personally if you want to run without a cat, get a replacement pipe made up for track/drag work and "accidently" leave it on at times.. but dont be suprised when you get reamed if caught.. Alternative would be get some cats, gut them and fit them yourself.. no exhaust shop wants to touch the cats as if they do, they cop a $25,000 fine or there abouts(i've asked em :P). Overall though be careful, while its legal in some countries(nz, various states in USA) its highly illegal in australia.

A mate of mine has an R33 GTS-T with no cat and a big fuel reg. It drags flame about 2-3 feet for a few seconds after backing off at high rpm. We were standing in the Nasho at the 35 corner watching each other do fly bys. Locals at Stanwell wen't too happy!

Have the external waste gate pointing to the road I say. Shoot the flames onto the bitumen.

My setup is just like this, but the flames came out the exhaust after letting off the throttle. Never from the wastgate (that I was told). Nice blue flames too, (that I was told) and a couple nices pops. No cat by the way.

Put cat in, stopped the flames.

An old very nice looking chev gets around these parts and must have the switch to do the flames. He quite often drives past us and lets them go. We first saw it on the highway, he heard us talking on the UHF and then put on a show.
