Hey has anyone else seen the previews for the DOOM moofie? It's supposed to be released at cinemas on October 27th. It doesn't look too bad (in a very cheesy kind of way).... and it stars the Rock. :P In the previews it shows (someone) holding a gun and the camera is over their shoulder, just like in a FPS. Let's hope their missions don't involve having to kill all the monsters in an area to find a red key! Gold or crud? Let's hope it's not another Mortal Kombat 2.... <_<

The preview I saw looked ok.. I never know with movies like this.. They can be good.. They can be bad.

Its staring The Rock.

The FPS view looks good so Im going to say 65% chance this movie will be ok.

I think I'll go and see it on 'cheap ass Tuesday' unless I hear good reviews about it (from ACTUAL Doom fans and not 2 old gits on the TV). Or maybe I'll just take a hip flask of Jimmy in with me and if things turn sour, at least I'll be happy! :) And as for the Rock staring in it, I reckon he could be alright as the Doom guy as long as he's not too much of a tool. I don't mind if he has the occaisonal 'dry cool action quip' ala Arnie, but not too many as Doom isn't a comedy.

saw the preview last night, looks alright :) the Rock has done some ok movies so hopfully this one will be good.

After doing some searching i found that the movie is base on DOOM 3, Earth loses contact with a Mars base etc etc...

i think from a moive point of view that was the best place to start from as Doom 1 and 2 where kind of just earth + devil = shoot everything that moves

I would like to have see a moive that scarys the crap out of me as did doom3 but i dont think i will hold my breath.

might check the net and dl it, and if i like it might go see it at the movies!

    • I’d love to find some where that can recover the dashes to look brand new and original. Mine has a very slight bubble, nothing compared to some I’ve seen though
    • $170K. I asked one of the guys there as a joke if that price was just for the passenger seat as it was where the price sheet was... he tried really hard to crack a smile 😄 He also mentioned that every single part of the car was inspected and either restored or replaced with a new or as new part, or made from scratch. The interior was incredible, every inch like a new car.
    • Time for a modernisation, throw out the AFM, stock O2s, ECU into the e-waste bin. Rip out the cable throttle, IACV, pedal, etc. into the scrap metal bin. DBW, e-throttle, modern ECU, CANbus wideband, and the thing will drive better than when it left the factory.
    • I agree, don't go trusting those trims. As I said, first step is to put the logger away, and do the basics in diagnosis.   I spend plenty of time with data loggers. I also spend plenty of time teaching "technicians" why they need to stop using their data loggers, and learn real diagnostics.   The amount of data logs I play with would probably blow most people away. I don't just use it to diagnose. I log raw CAN data too, as a nice chunk of my job is reverse engineering what automotive manufacturers are doing.
    • I'm aware, but unless you're actually seeing the voltage the ECU is seeing and you're able to verify the sensors are actually working I find it hard to just trust STFT/LTFT. I will say, logging the ECU comes naturally to me because it's one of the lowest effort methods of diagnosis and I do similar things in my day job all the time. Staring at 20+ charts looking for something that isn't quite right isn't for everyone. NDS1 allows you to log almost everything so that's normally what I do and then sort out the data later.
