finance company thingy, vic roads has a new thing you pay 50$ i thinck and its a paper saying some crap that the finance company cant take the car of you ect something like that i rang last week about a car.

Actually, bank cheques are only worth the paper that they are printed on. A person who has organised a bank cheque can still cancel it after they have given to you, or say that it was lost and have cancelled. It then becomes your responsibility to prove that the money is owed to you.
