"Holden has stunned journalists and the motoring industry by unveiling a 2005 update of the iconic FJ Holden, the EFIJY.

The 480kw monster show car pays tribute to the 1953 FJ, but is far beyond that car in terms of power and sophistication. Whereas the 1953 model maxed out at 45kW of power, this 480kW reincarnation has a 6 litre Chevrolet Corvette engine and features a supercharger which gives it, according to Holden chairman and managing director Denny Mooney, about as much power as a V8 Supercar.

But Mooney said this car will not see production any time soon.

This car is about pure fun. It?s about emotion. It?s about imagination,? he said.

?It shows what designers can do when you let them loose.? The car appears on the Holden stand on the show in glittering purple paintwork and sleek, very long, 5.2m lines. "

never been a huge fan of the fj holdens, they could of relived a different model, but alot of old holden enthusiasts like this car, will be interesting to see aside a pristine original fj.

That means they can construct me a new car from any model i pic ???

imagine that :) :) :D

That thing looks like your classic street machine.

Unlike when the Commodore Coupe was unveiled, this thing just looks horn. If they build it in a similar design to that (even without the supercharger, but it has to be a V8) at a price I could afford, I'd consider trading in the Nissan for one.....

Unlike the new Mini, new Beetle, and most of those Yank vehicles, this is one "retro" design that I really like.

The only time i'll be impressed, is when Holden decide to build a car (any kind) and run with it. Instead of showing Australia - "Hey, look what we can do, but too bad we're not gunna make it available"

Talk about Australia's biggest co(k teasers....i say put up or fu(k off....

WOFTAM (waste of f'in time and money)!

I dont see Holden lasting much longer as a company when the only effort they seem to be putting into their cars are one offs like this. Dont get me wrong, its a nice looking car, but they should put more effort into cars Aussies (especially 'everyday Aussie's') can and afford to drive, theyve have a better hold onto Australia's market. The "Marilyn" (the convertable coupe) would have sold, maybe more than the 'new' Monaro's.

Youd all probably know that Holden will no longer be rebadging European cars anymore. the new hatchbacks, astras etc are gunna be Daewoo.

Ive given up on Holden. thats why the commy's for sale. i want a real car... a Skyline ;)

Thanks for reading my whinge/rant :)

Yeah, I'll pay that.

Holden worked long and hard to give their small / medium car range a dose of quality and respectability by using Euro cars (your average Astra is built pretty well and appointed, considering the price point)....and now they're just going to piss it away by using Daewoos.

While these stunning one-offs are always good for brand image, what people see most about your brand are the cars on the street. So you can build the most gorgeous looking street machine that can't be driven at more than 15km/hr (not that you would, since the car's 22mm off the ground and the HVAC probably doesn't work) but when you're stuck in peak hour traffic and eveyone sees something that, at first glance, you swore was a Lacetti or some other stupidly-named car......

looks nice but at 5.2 metres and 6 litres, not to mention it would be 100k plus. How many people can afford it ? It looks like the same car MICK DOOHAN was driving around Mt Panaroma at BATHURST. Big thirsty cars are not realistic with today's petrol price. Only the CASH man can afford those sort of cars. I can't see it as a daily driving vehicle.

AMG CLK55

Not exactly the best choice for a course as narrow as Targa Tassie, but when you have a love of overweight and soft cruisers and the manufacturer loves what you can bring to their exposure, I suppose it'll do.

Agree completely. They're not going to develop that. Exactly who would buy it? They seem to do this every year. What next? The Blingswood with a fulli sik set of chromes and a +400hp LS1?. Big f**king deal.
