Hi all,

Got my snot box running finally.

I have been playing with the fuel maps on the microtech to get it running ok so I can drive it to launny for Brad Sheriff to tune it.

It seems to be running well, I had to take the intake manifold off twice to weld up some holes :P car was idling at 2500rpm due to leaks... and this is a Japanese manifold not a Chinese one.

I could listen to my RB30DET idle all day... sounds so insane.

NOS is soon to come, I am looking at a 100HP shot, maybe push it up to 150HP if I am keen enough.

Here is the latest pic of the engine bay.

Also I am loving the 4" intercooler piping butting up against that 115mm(outside diameter) TB. Found out it was 115mm Out Diam when I tried to put a 4" silicon joiner on it and failed.

I am maxing out the KKR560 that is on it so I am looking at getting a custom top mount made up so I can still close my bonnet and going to a KKR720X and 50mm external gate. This will be a few months away though.

EDIT:

I also put 2 bucket seats in and a 5 point harness.

plenty happening to the rx7 with lots coming off and a little going back on... have now got the drivers seat, well the same design anyway, the red seat will go into the evo. also got the hydralic handbrake and removable wheel hub and the engine bay has been reduced to a near bare engine ready for a big refresh.

not much action on the evo front, but have bought coilovers, hydralic handbrake, steering wheel and a spare bonnet and bumper.

well got plum back bov fitted, car no longer back fires also fixed my inner guards so the tyres dont rub anymore. fixed the AFM which was also playing up. then got it home and the seal in the water pump goes <_<

About to spend three or four days cleaning all the damn Jap dirt and grime off of and out of the GTR followed by a trip to the detailers shed at work I think to make it all spick and span again.

Pull the Carrozzeria headunit out and replace it with one that actually has English on its display.

Then have the damage repaired that occurred on its way here from Japan and hopefully by that stage take it to work and register it...

So the new toy is here. How bad is the damage???

Does the Hatch have a new owner yet?

So many questions...

You sound more excited than I am!!

Yes its here.

Damage is not bad but will require a full front bar respray. Its the stuff that got stolen that pisses me off.

No the Hatch is still in the driveway behind the GTR but we are still talking with that person you put me onto. He is keen, just busy with work apparently.

First place she went, down to Symmons. Only did a couple of laps in an official role so couldnt really do much.

The Nismo Strut Brace.

My near perfect condition mats were swapped with some sh!tty old worn out ones.

Thankfully the original owners manuals and full service history and documents detailing the fitting of the Stereo, Exhaust, Turbo Timer, E Tag thingy and Bilstein Suspension are all still in the car.

ahh no....

The GTR will not be at the gravel hillclimb. Thats just stoopid.

Its far too neat of an example to waste throwing around a gravel road.

It will make a trip or two to Symmons Plains and down the quarter.

Probably the numerous hillclimb's and the Smithton Kart Track Lap Dash events as well.

All depends on the financial situation at the time.

If its like now, wont be doing squat...

Try Power Play Imports, they are also big into NISMO gear.

Id look around for another Nismo supplier as PPI de-registered as a business last week :)

UPDATES for the blue beast: Brakes back on, intake all sorted with new top pipe on all in one section this time, extra injector set up has been removed completely from the car and intake welded up. Have removed the EBC and will replacing all the vacuum lines with new ones :D

Big thanks to Allan & Martin @ TASMANIAN MOBILE MECHANICS for the help with the car and storing it out there :)

Well I have been offered an R32 GTR at a price I couldn't refuse. Low k's, I know the current owner and he's no idiot, stock as can be.

Basically its the project car I have been looking for and if it falls through I will finish building my XB GT. I will post up some pics once I pick it up.

So my 33 is up for sale, if it sells it will be a bit sad (considering the amount of effort I have put into getting it back on the road), but so be it.

    • Sadly I can confirm if you are actually seeking to drift, you will quite easily spin up one wheel. Even if you're going in a straight line. I am not entirely sure of the metrics/terminology here but there's only a certain amount that the helical will actually spin both wheels. I've seen it on video with my own car where two lines of smoke switch over to just one after you really get in to it. Unlike with a clutch diff where you can keep your foot planted until the car regains grip, in my experience with the helical you want to be utilizing traction control allowing LIMITED slip or lifting (partially) when you start to spin up both tyres with a Nissan helical. Which makes them pretty sub optimal for drifting duty. That said... this is probably a helical on numbers alone. Just put the Kazz in
    • Let's just fix the problem by f**king the rest of the gearbox.
    • Unlikely, as per Greg's post. This is not helical diff behaviour unless one wheel is up off the ground. Shimming what? You don't "shim" a mechanical LSD. Probably not in the sense that you have heard of people "shimming" a diff. And the process that Nissan f**kwits call "shimming" a diff involves super-preloading a VLSD cartridge against the side of the diff to create a friction/wear point (in a place that it wasn't supposed to have one) to make the sloppy, useless, viscous diff into a hybrid viscous/mech abortion. In case it isn't clear, I consider the process to be stupid. Nike.
    • How much does the shifter move when the car is in gear with the engine off? If it is more than about 1cm you need to replace your shifter bush. Your shifts will just get crunchier, not faster, with a short shifter unless you also rebuild the whole box
    • I should video mine, will prob do it tomorrow    Between 1st and 3rd, you could fit another two gears. That is how loose and wobbly it is   horrible:(
